Plus-Size Models: Testing the performance effects of upsizing wheels and tires

Car and Driver finally posted this article which showed up in the May 2010 print magazine. Dramatic effects are shown with varying wheel size and corresponding tire sizes. I guess we should all go back to really lightweight forged 16's with 225/60-16s, and dump all those heavy cast wheels and wide section widths.

Actually, the sweet spot for style and performance is probably lightweight 18's and 245/45-18's

I think it's disappointing to learn that a 14lb increase in weight only affected fuel mileage by +2.2mpg.

This was meant to apply to our RL's and not the Golf in the article.
