one front wheel stud broke

So my mechanic said if he changes it, he recommends to order a wheel bearing because it will get damaged. Any one know why??? Is he doing it correctly?

The tech is correct because in order to take out the stud the hub must be pulled out to pull the stud out. A slide hammer will be used to remove the hub and there is a 50/50 chance the bearings will fall apart. just corss your fingers!

Just curious, how did the stud break? Was it related to someone's pneumatic impact wrench?
