I looked for months before buying the OEM 18's. The RL is not sold in high enough volumes to warrant aftermarket wheel companies stocking a wheel with the odd offset, bolt pattern and caliper clearance required for the RL. Custom makers like HRE will custom make you a set, but the cost is high and the styling options limited. The bottom line is that Honda wanted to sell a bunch of the OEM 18's and they are doing just that.

I'm sure there are plenty of wheels that fit the RL. There is a good assortment of 5x120, 8" wheels with 40-45 offsets.

It's just a mater of time before someone starts test fitting them to see what does and doesn't clear the calipers.

We need someone in SoCal or SoFla to find a shop with a HUGE inventory and have at it.

Only certain styles are going to fit properly. Your are not going to get that big of a lip unless 1) the spokes extend outward away from the calipers 2) the offset pushes the whole wheel way out.

Use this tool to understand what offset does in terms of wheel/tire sticking out -> http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html

Stock is 8" +55

Partially. Pretty much what I touched on before.

Only way to get a deep lip is to 1) have a low, low offset (which won't work on our cars) or 2) have spokes that extend outward and the bend back in towards the bottom.

Go pick up an issue of Options, Optons2, Carboy, etc and see what's available. The RL is called the Legend KBA-DBA and let the search begin. Once you find something, share with us and I'm sure that there are quite a few people around that'll be able to import them in for you.

I'd personally stay away from the lower market brand names such as adr, axis, ace, giovanna, etc etc, and focus my search on a japanese manufacturer who makes legend specific wheels. The RL is very similar to the S2000 in this way. The S2000 has funky offsets like the RL and after a few years, quite a few manufacturers began making S2000 specific offset wheels for owners to choose from.

Patience grasshopper, Patience.

Stop talking and start fitting. You know more about what fits your car than ADR or these other vendors that have never touched a wheel on a RL. Go to a shop and mount/test fit some wheels or wait until someone else does and reports their findings.

A 15 offset? When you plugged that into the tool in the link I posted, what did that tell you?

Become the expert.

this is my

1) i believe that RonJon does make a 1-piece devotion in 18 and 19in... check out his website - they have a lip - area available in black and silver centers - look good - resonably priced. (they discontinued the 3-piece because of production issues/cost)

2) I just put on the aspec wheels (18 in 245/45 - 18). they definately change the ride significanly in terms of harshness - I dont think that 19s will be comfortable at all..... this may not be an issue for you.

3) there is a BBS re in 19 available via japanese market (DOOV.COM) looks good.

good luck

mark

Has anyone considerd (or have experience) with Work Wheels?
I really like the Seeker CX. Talked to some folkz today ... Takes about 60-90 dayz for these custom wheel. One tech person even suggested running different offsets font and rear (you can use same width wheel) to give the vehicle the "look" of a RWD car.

BTW- Because of the unique design of the curved spokes, the lip will be over 1.5 inches even with a +48 offset. Makes me go ... Hummmm.

They are fairly expensive ... I've had quotes from about $540 - $630 per wheel.
To get a good idea, check out this website for pricing on a specific bolt pattern, color and wheel size. CLICK HERE
BTW- You can use the linkz on the left to view other selections.

Also, their online gallery shows the details of the fins and lip sizes.
Here are some examples of the Seeker CX:

I know quite a few people running Work wheels. I had a set of RSZ's on my ITR and my good friend has a set of the Meisters on his S. Quality and craftsmanship are pretty high up there. Work is well respected in JDM circles and is one of the rare wheel manufacturers that offer offsets for hard to fit Honda applications like the RL, S2000 and NSX.

As for price, expect to pay a lot for them ($2k + for wheels alone), especially if you order them with custom offsets.

For the RL, I personally like the VSXX and the og Equips.

Evolution Autosports states that they have a set of 19x8.5 +35 Volk Racing LE37's in stock that will clear the calipers. My only concern with this set is the aggressive offset.

Here's a picture of the LE's. Please note that the front wheels in the pictures are the ones that (supposedly) fit our car...

Good lookin' wheel, but the outside edge of that wheel will EXTEND an extra 26mm compared to stock.

Eww.
