this guy bsing me?

I went to the store to purchase some rims and told me if my car is the tech package. I told him earlier that I was going to put some drill slotted rotors and bigger brakes. He told me not to waste my money as my brakes are already big and all I need to do is buy drill slotted rotors and some better pads. I would also need to buy 3pc rims because of the current brakes on the tech package are big?

If you want a good improvement in braking, buy the Satisfied GranSport 6 pads from tirerack. A huge improvement over stock.

Your front brake setup is already a 4 piston one so yes, the front brakes are considered big. I don't think you'll ever have BMW stopping power, but with Satisfied pads you'll be much closer. I run them with slotted rotors.

i needed some new brakes and ill probably go your route. My cars starts to vibrate braking from 80-70 or squeel at like 10. Should I go get the drill slotted rotors or just buy the brake pads? Im guessing the rear is a 2 piston setup? Also is this guy right about 3pc wheel setup?

Why do you what bigger brakes? When braking are you locking up the tires? Are you tracking your car?

The best bet is to get a good street performance pad. Beter brake fluid. If you are getting brake fade, get some rotors. It does not matter slotted, drilled or blanks on the street.

If you are getting brake judder or brake shimmy (vibrations when braking) this is typically caused by residue from the previous brake pad compound and is offen misdiagnosed as a warped rotor.

On the wheels just make sure you get ones with the correct offset to clear the front calipers.

i had to do my pads and just went OEM. I'm not tracking my RL and I can't say I've ever had a problem stopping on my RL... once I replaced the worn out pads to OEM - the stopping power was IMMENSELY improved.... those of you who change out pads and think the aftermarket ones are better - you may just be comparing worn pads to new ones... anything new vs worn out is better.

if you haven't eaten in a few days - even day old Pizza would seem like hte best meal you've had in your life...

as to our brakes - yes th ey are good. best ever? no. but very good. MOST cars do not have the quality calipers we have on the fronts. Some cars have brembo style calipers at all four corners... we have it in the front..and honestly, the front is where hte majority of the braking happens anyway...

i'd stick with OEM if it were me. I've run slotted rotors and couldn't even tell a difference on a former car.

save the money for something you might notice the difference on or will see/appreciate. like a rear spoiler, tint, new tires.. etc.

jsut my $.02.

scottycruz, the 3pc wheels is bs, as long as you get the correct offset you can mount tin cans.

as far as brake pads comments of new vs old, I was comparing Satisfied brake pads to what I felt with my car since I had it (under 5,000 miles) so it wasn't a difference of old oem vs new oem, it was whatever oem to kick some serious @$$ Satisfied pads.

If you search the forum, I've been looking to get rid of the "sliding" feel and started out by going with stainless steel brake lines which did not address the issue of sliding but improved the feel of the braking.

the pads are the real deal if you want more stopping power, oem are just acceptable in my book and I don't track.

It would be nice if someone made a two-piece rotor for the RL. Lighter, better cooling and lower spinning weight, other from that I would get better brake pads.
