Winter Wheels and no TPMS Sensors
Looking at getting a set of winter wheels as it's really a PITA to pay twice a year to mount+balance/dismount winter and summer rubber. If you run winter wheels but don't bother with TPMS sensors, I assume you will of course get MID error messages coming up about the TPMS system - but any other issues? It doesn't result in anything crazy like disabling the SH-AWD right? LOL

It will not let you turn off VSA if the TPMS system is not functioning correctly, so you may get a light for that too.

Cool enough. The sensors are rather pricey to bother with on winter wheels if not really and truly needed, and my experience (as well as a friend with an 05) is any given OEM TPMS sensor only seems to last about 3 years or so before it has to be replaced. I think the cold climate extremes here are hard on them.

The batteries last about 7 years under typical conditions. However, cold does wreak havoc on batteries, so I could buy into a 3 year life span in Canada.
Why they don't make replaceable batteries is beyond me.

Going without TPMS sensors on snow wheels?
Debating just not spending money on the TPMS sensors for the wheels that are on the car 2.5 months of the year.
I know it (1) breaks TC [traction control] and (2) Irritates the crap out of you with a yellow exclamation point on cluster.
I'm thinking well, going uphill on snow/ice, most folks turn off the TC. Going downhill ... I just don't know, I think TC isn't a big deal.
Any thoughts or comments?

Calculated risk that only you can determine if 1 is true.

You are correct the second time. You cannot disable VSA with a TPMS error. But with SH-AWD, I can't imagine why you would ever need to turn VSA off. That shit can drive up hill on ice.

Not just that, but doesn't the MID throw the error upon startup too?

Yea. There's a yellow light always there.

Yes, and the actual MID screen starts orange and says there's an error too. Or at least it does with some. "DRL error" definitely comes up orange when you start the car.
So that's 3 yellow warnings to deal with.

Does this info apply to 5G 2020?
Evening!
2020 TLX V6 Technology. Have set of Sparco wheels I kept from 2016 Accord Touring, same size spec. Same details apply? MHZ specs and car recognizing signal?
Want to do summer, winter tire thing.
Cheers!

Old thread but adding some info.
I just put snow tyres/wheels on ours for the first time. No TPMS at all and apart from the warning light for it we haven't had any other issues at all. It does not affect anything else (apart from maybe the VSA not being disabled, never tried it afaik).
