Can't find any tires!
I have the stock 05 wheels on my RL. The factory tire size, as you already know, are 245/50 R17, which don't seem to be a popular size.
Should I just get a set of A-Spec wheels, because that size seems to open up a world of tire possibilities. I don't really like the A-Spec wheel design.
The previous owner of this car must have ran into the same problems and put 225s on. They are doing fine for the driving I mainly do, but they are wearing fast (probably due to the stretch).
The Conti ExtremeContact DWS have great reviews, but are on chronic backorder everywhere. Tirerack says it will be an optimistic 3 months before more come in.
I've seen references to the Toyo Versado's on this board, but I can't find a place online or local that stocks them.
My current tires will probably last another 10,000 miles, but I would just feel better rolling on the OEM tire size.
Any suggestions for online tire sources, or alternative factory wheels I can look into? Seems kind of silly to buy a set of wheels because I can't find tire sizes. What was Acura thinking.

Its a goofy size for sure. There are options though....I'm not a huge fan of the OEM Michelins, but some people like them....they are too pricey for what you get.
Of course, if you were looking for the opportunity to upgrade wheels....this would be the time
...also, read up on the posts about aftermarket wheels - not many fit with the RL brake calipers....

I have the Conti ExtremeContact DWS tires on my 18" wheels in 245/45/18 size and i like them a lot!
However, if you are looking for a good tire in 245/50/17 ... i will recommend General Exclaim UHP tires. I had them before and i still have them on our TSX. They are affordable, last well and provide very solid traction, especially in WET! Made in Germany too. Maybe a little more noisy but not much. Great tires at a great price!
Tirerack should have them in stock.
Good luck!

Tirerack just started a special ($100 prepaid Amex card) on Bridgestone Turanza Serenity.
I think, based on the recommendations here, I am going to go for the Generals or the Versados. But these Serenity's at this price point are intriguing.
