Anybody running the 18" Michelin Pilot Sports?

I am and although they are one of the most expensive tires you can
buy for the RL, I am dissappointed with the tracking, noise and vibration. On a smooth asphalt highway they are fine but any texture in the road causes them to transfer all that right back to the car.

I hear the Pirelli Neros are good or any other ideas?

I've got the Neros and have no complaints....they do tramline a little, but no where near as bad as the Continentals equipped on the BMW's i've driven. Others have said Avon's and Falken ST115's do well. I think Acura was pushing the Michelin's due to the softer sidewall (keep the ride composure) while providing sportier handling.

After rebalancing the Michelins and still getting way more feedback
and noise that I want in a sedan, I decided to go with the Pirelli "Nero"
M/S 18's from Tire Rack...I chose to go with the Pirelli's based on what I've read in this RL forum...thanks!(BTW the Michelins have great
grip but that's about all they have going for them IMO.) I run 32F and
30R....cold.

They're in and getting installed Monday....

Michelin used to have a flawless reputation....not in my opinion anymore + they're still one of the most expensive to purchase. Price doesn't always equate to quality in tires.

Never tried them....this was my 1st negative experience w/ Michelin. I
have them as OEM on two '05 MDX's and they are fine. I am looking
forward to trying the Pirellis......

I'm surprised to hear about your experience w/ the Michelin P/S's. I had them (18") on my previous SC430 and GS300 and was very satisfied. Noise was acceptable and handling was decent. Maybe it's the roads here in So. Florida vs. where you are located, but I was completely happy with them.

That's true dseag2. It has a lot to do with the roads.

The roads up in the NW are destroyed by people who think studded tires are required up here.

So Flo is home to some great super-paved roads (toll-roads) like the Turnpike, Sawgrass etc.

Replaced my 18" Michelin Pilot Sports yesterday w/ Pirelli PZERO Nero
M/S....my reasons are stated at the beginning of this thread. I drove them a little over 1K miles before switching.

I have sacrificed -0- in the way of handling capabilities and gained
a quieter ride plus I'm not getting the vibration and road feedback
that was so irritating w/ the Michelins (BTW these were not the Pilot
A/S).

On glass smooth roads the Michelins were fine..lot's of grip and sharpness but get on a road with any texture at all and they were
way too sensitive for me + at 75 mph to 85mph, for some reason,
they acted like they were out of balance even though I had them
rebalanced at 500 miles on a Hunter Machine.

I would recommend the Pirellis to anybody who is upsizing to 18's
on their '05 RL, especially with the A-Spec suspension. The added benefit is that they are an all season tire vs sumer performance only.
