Why would you? Taller sidewall and more wheel exposure...

I run them for my winter setup since there are not really any snow tires made in a 245/50R17. No rubbing issues with a +35 offset wheel package.

As far as I know, Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 Runflats are the only winter tires made in the stock size and they're nowhere near the load capacity requirements for the RL. Kind of surprising since the TL, a much higher volume car than the RL, has come with that size for 5 years now. New winter tires should be announced in a few months. I'm hoping Michelin releases the Pilot Alpin PA4 in a 245/50R17 this year. I put them on my wife's TL last season and they're the best winter tire I've ever had.

It's more like about 3%. May not seem like that much of a difference but look at it like this: for every 60 miles you drive you are putting about 62 miles on your odometer. Personally, I never recommend going smaller on overall diameter. At least do a 225/55R17. With that you'll be much closer to the stock tire diameter and you still have a lot of options for tires.
