Motegi's RL. First Photos! New 20"s

Longtime member, but first time posting photos of my RL.

Since I just installed my new 20"s over the weekend I thought it would be a good time to snap a few photos.

After searching for just the right wheel style/color combo I chose MRR GT-1 20 inchers in black.

There have been a few little glitches ordering these wheels but aside from the TPMS issue everything else has been resolved.

Without further ado here are the photos! Enjoy!

I have a set of RS*R Down springs for my RL... still sitting in the box.

So the RL is actually still on the stock springs in these photos.

Since this car is a daily driver and is used in the snow during the wintertimes I may not install the springs since the gap doesn't seem too bad. Also, I don't want to have to worry about reinstalling the stock springs during the winter months. In addition, I'm "on-call" 24/365 so neither I nor my patients can afford to be stranded in the snow.

Not to mention the roads here in southeast MI are so horrible with frost heaves and potholes everywhere. Just trying to leave my neighborhood one day my NSX's WingsWest front lip (stock suspension) caught the pavement rise at the entrance to the main cross street and folded up under the front bumper. That ended up being a $500 repair/repaint...

Finally, having once had my '94 Legend lowered so low that I couldn't clear a small speed bump or even a small rise into a parking lot I don't want to have to worry about that again. I have since switched the Legend to Eibachs but it still scrapes if I approach my driveway too quickly.

That is one clean looking car! Nice tint, although that would get me pulled over for sure!

Are you planning to run the 20's all year round with all seasons? I imagine up there in MI, you would have dedicated winter tires.

Regardless, whether you run all seasons or summer and winter tires, what rubber did you select? I have to replace two tires and like to see what people's experiences are.

Thanks in advance

I have snow tires on my factory wheels.

My 20"s were purchases as a package deal and came with Nexxen tires. I believe they are a Korean brand.

They seem to be VERY quiet and the ride is not as harsh as I thought it would be with 20"s.

Honestly I never was a fan of black wheels either... This is my first set in black. I figured that it was a black car and I wanted to try the "murdered" look. To complete the process I guess I need to get the tailights tinted and the yellow front turnsignals removed.

The wheel color was a really tough decision. I've always had either silver or hyperblack/gunmetal wheels. Figured it was time for a change.

Thanks. I have a painted OEM spoiler that I just need to install. I've been a bit uneasy about having to drill holes into my trunk. So the spoiler has just been sitting in it's packaging for the past 3 weeks!

I agree. In terms of the exterior I'm gonna keep it as is for now with the addition of a spoiler.

I've got several things I need to do with my other cars before I can spend any more on my daily driver.

Good, in your previous post it sounded like you wanted to tint the tails and other murdered out details...
while it does look good, but everyone does it, and is easy to do.

like some one said, your wheels compliments the window sills. Very classy!

Just ask my neighbors. I'm out in the garage every weekend washing/ claying/ polishing/ waxing. With 4 cars its like having a 2nd job! Good thing I've got a couple of backup Porter Cable polishers!

Since I'd never owned a black car until this one I didn't realize how difficult black paint is to maintain. Swirl marks seem to pop up out of nowhere!

20s looks just right on an RL. What are the specs on the tire? Oh, and, throw some tire shine on the tires!

I'm also from SE MI, Clinton Township to be exact. Whereabouts are you from? You can PM if you don't care to share.

Details on these please.

How much they lower and spring rate and or stiffness over stock.

Oh and what tirre size and rim width offset are you running? How close the spokes sit to the front calipers?

Car looks good man. I also have my first black car with my RL and its a pain and a half. Gets swirls just from looking at it and I hate it after its freshly washed and you get greasy handprints on it. Any pics of the NSX or Legend?
