Completed my MediaBridge install
Well, It is finally done.....
Before:
During:
After:
nice brass finished blue LED 3-way toggle switch relocated next to the mirror adjustment cluster
everything else is nicely tugged away
added extra USB charge port
everything attached (4GB USB stick, and micro USB charge cord for cell phone)
All the function works BT music stream, AUX, i-Stuff, USB flash drive... This is as close to the factory oem look as possible... the parts used were from 09+ RL center console pieces + the existing original parts. The Mediabridge unit is tugged away underneath the lower right hand side of "not ash tray" concealed.

Nice and clean! how did you access the switch housing next to the mirror control?

the wires ran underneath the steering column... at first i thought the curved empty spacer plate is not gonna fit flush with the button switch. It turned out that the rubber gasket around the button took care of that problem and it fit perfectly. The function of that button disengage XM/XM traffic - engage the mediabridge and vice versa...
p.s. the last few pictures were taken using the camera on Asus Transformer

Running the wire is pretty straight forward. How did you actually mount the switch on the plate? Did you remove the plate or the whole dash? Did you drill with it still on the dash?

Aux can be used for anything with a 35mm headphone jack. Laptop, cd player, walkman, etc. Also you can run a RCA to 35mm plug and plug in a DVD player or PlayStation.

it's just a piece of curved rectangular cover that can be detached from the cluster. I just removed the plate. drill a hole on the plate for the button to fit through (drill after you detach the plate), mount the button connect the wire and place the plate back to the cluster.

thx... but $104 for what? all the trim pieces should run ~$40-$50... I use the mediabridge because it's got bluetooth streaming, usb, and aux port. The setup is equivalent to the 09+ HU. I don't think I'm going to use aux that much since i got BT and USB... it's there if i need it... and it completes the setup in the center console compartment

The OEM USB wire ended up useless in this installation... Honda have ways of making strange proprietary adapters that is not compatible with regular USB adapter... so that turned out to be one of the expansive useless piece I bought

from 09+ RL: USB holder and cap, AUX module, back plate, and rubber carpet. here is the part number respectively: 39115-TL0-G01, 39112-SJD-E01, 83417-SJA-G01ZB, 83413-SJA-J01. 93913-14180(tapping screws) (don't get the OEM USB cord, it's useless and cost $37, just get a male to female USB cord and the female end fit in the holder) u can use the existing power socket assembly and everything else. this should run you <$50 in OEM parts

Sorry for my ignorance. How does this interface with the car? What is the mediabridge part number and where did you get it? Do you have full control of everything from the steeringwheel?

I called my local dealer and I use the part number showing on the empty bags you have in the photos. Is this something that requires high tech experience to install or it's plug n play?

I need to install the 3-way SPDT switch because I still use XM/XM traffic. the mediabridge is plugged in behind the head unit's XM port... I have to turn one off before the I can use the other one. otherwise, they'll have conflict... this is where the switch toggling comes in. If you don't use XM at all, the setup is straight forward plug n play... no need for the switch....
I got the newer mediabridge unit with BT and Sirius (when they were giving out the free unit)

if you don't use XM, this job can be done using your hands and 1 philip screw driver... you do need information on how to pull the trims and panels apart... once you snap everything in place, it's what you called plug n play

Dude awesome, thanks! I don't plan on going to exact same route as you but I do plan on setting it up the same way you did in the center console. I have a DVD player that has aux and usb inputs on it so I plan on routing the aux and usb inputs from that to this, that way I wont have to really touch the dvd player at all. Thanks again!

i've actually sent psheu a few PMs so far and he's been extremely helpful.
the link i found so far is below:
http://www.quantum-wireless.com/stor...for-acura.html
not sure if that's the best pricing on the web, but it's i found so far.
psheu - i didn't know they were giving out free units.... guess i missed out!
i don't plan on installing the switch like psheu did as i never use the XM. so i think the install should be easier.

Has anyone here done this with a TSX? I have an '07 TSX with only the 1/8" jack and no USB capability ... I got an '11 TSX as a loaner while mine was being serviced, and while I did not like the new model's road handling, I loved the integrated USB and BT audio.

yeah... actually, the person that told me about this item is a service advisor from Acura dealer (otherwise, i almost install the USAspec)... He got the same unit installed in his '07 TSX... He uses his ipod and HTC Evo with the usb port... that's what inspired me to install this unit

Super clean install. Very nice!
I have a question for you. I'm actually about to buy an RL so I was researching this MediaBridge kit a little bit. It says on their website that it can't be used with the Tech Package. Any idea why this would be? I thought the only thing the tech package really added was the PAX tires and CMBS. The reason why I ask is there is a dealer selling a 2006 RL about an hour away from me. I can see in the pictures online that it has the CMBS emblem in the front grill. I would honestly skip over this particular car if you can't add iPod connectivity in favor of a stupid safety system that I will never use anyway...

There should be no issue using Media Bridge with the tech package. Where did you read that?
FYI, the tech package also utilizes a Navigation system and Adaptive Front Lighting system while the Base doesn't.

I think they meant to say if you want to keep your XM radio.... if not, the Mediabridge plugs into the XM port and take over the XM.... I still use XM and XM traffic so I had to install a toggle switch for XM and Mediabridge.... the way i had it setup, they cannot co-exsist (XM and Mediabridge) without some modification....
I also noticed that I use the bluetooth streaming function more than the other option....
BT > USB > AUX..... if I toggle it the other way, XM/CD/DVD... I have not touch FM/AM in ages....

^I'm terribly sorry to inconvenience you but how better is this product in comparison with the USAspec? i got the USAspec couple months ago and so far i haven't had problems of any sort. Pardon my ignorance.

Where did you install the actual unit? Any chance you took some pictures during the original install process?

this unit is similar to the USAspec... but it does stream music via bluetooth and USB and cost about the same as USAspec i believe...

I'll take some picture next time i pull apart the shift plate again.... but this unit is sitting next to the empty lower right hand space underneath the "not an ashtray".... so it's consealed within the center console and no extra long wires needed to run into the center console glove box....

oo7spy,
I actually just finished my Mediabridge install this past weekend. (psheu's help, of course). I ended up putting the unit in the compartment under the center armrest. The reason I did this is because in case of firmware update I'll be able to access the unit easier.
To psheu's comment - there is a spot just to the right of the not an astray which you can use to store it.
Hope that helps!

I just got a '05 RL and was wondering if this would apply to my vehicle if anyone knows?
I too have driven a '09 or new model Acura and I find their USB ports and iPod integration to be far superior and I want to update my system to equal functionality.
Thank you

hope your still around to answer this question... How did you get the AUX module to work? it's a 5 pin from the other end. How did you connect it to your mediabridge, i'm trying to finish my install but have no idea how you connected it, did you take out the guts from the AUX module and go custom? thanks.

figured you did that. I created my own plug and play 5 pin male connector , I got a regular 3.5mm extension cable cut it up and found the power and ground and soldered and shrink wrapped it with a regular honda male 5 pin I stole from a legend and voila, plug and play with the AUX module lol

you're going to have to change the settings on the mediabridge box and put down one of the switches and use the CD setting instead so it won't conflict with the XM

i'd like to get the ipod integration/port installed as well or buy the usa aux kit. nice install nonetheless and keeps the oem-ness
