Wondering if our dvd player plays movies?

I've never seen any info on a Mod to fix this issue. I think it's more of an issue of the 'head' that reads the disc isn't for DVD-V. You woud probably need to replace the unit... I don't think you could overcome it with a software mod.

There is a product called Nav2TV, but I have not studied it at all to see how it works.

I understand that people in the TL forum have done something like this. Not clear if it needs a separate player (I think yes, if for no other reason than convenience), and whether or not they swap out the actual display, but the new display fits in the same factory bezel. You retain your nav functions.
I seem to recall something like $1500 for a nicely installed and custom integrated system
