Is there a way to dial with an android and have it automatically use bluetooth?

For example: The phone is paired and connected, I make a phone call using the phone, I then have to select the audio source from the menu using the phone in order for it to use the bluetooth.

Is there a way for it to default to the bluetooth when it is connected? I have a Plantronics headset and it always defaults to it when it is connected. I have seen this happen in other Honda vehicles as well. I don't know if there is a setting in the phone that I'm missing but I don't think so. Maybe that is just the way it is with the older bluetooth systems.

After dialing from the handset, you can push the HFL steering wheel button and say "transfer" and it will transfer the audio to the HFL system if the handset is paired.

Thanks! I will try that after work.

The transfer function works both ways: Phone - > HFL and HFL - > Phone. I know there are different iterations of HFL software in different models and different years. Not sure if your RL can do this but hit the HFL button and say "dial 401-XXX-XXXX." On both of our Acuras this worked as well. I know some have had mediocre success with the HFL understanding the numbers being said and this can be frustrating, which can lead to dialing on the phone itself. Another option is to load frequently called numbers to your phonebook in the RL. When you have done this you can simply say "Call John."

Mine does allow that. I just find it slow and tedious. I did save some numbers to the phone book. I should and will add more for frequent calls. I still find myself dialing using the phone simply because it is much faster and easier for me. If the transfer option works that will be a good work around for now. I still wish there was a setting in my phone that would default to bluetooth when it is connected. Every other bluetooth device I've used does just that. For whatever reason the RL and other older Honda models I've used with my HTC One all do the same thing.

After dialing on my iPhone a little menu pops up to select how to connect/complete the call. If I dial from the car, it obviously defaults to the Bluetooth.

It does the same on my phone but that menu disappears too fast for me to consistently hit. I then have to click on the audio source button and select HFL. It isn't that big of a deal. I just figured there might be an easier way.

You can also dial the number on the handset, and then quickly hang up. Then from HFL, say "redial". This avoids the person on the other end hearing you say "transfer" command.

Transfer worked as did redial. I need to RTFM and see what other HFL commands might be useful.

I actually read the manual but I tried a bunch of voice commands via the navi/temp/radio controls. Most commands didn't work well at. I would say "temperature 68 degrees" and it would change the radio station. I gave up quickly on that. Maybe it is my Rhode Island accent. Lol.

Like I said above - mediocre success so I doubt it's your RI accent

I've been pretty successful with the voice commands, but I suspect it's not very good with accents of any kind.

You have to enunciate and speak clearly, but RI doesn't really have an accent per se'.

People keep telling me there are 26 letters in the alphabet not 25 but I don't believe that to be true. What is this letter "r" people keep talking about???
