Question on 2005 RL media compatibility

I read in the manual that the cd player, can play either WMA or MP3. And it's a manual for a 2005 RL, which i have. How true is this and if the player really plays WMA, does it have to be in a specific format? Because, so far, I am only able to play MP3's. Has anyone tried and was succesful in playing WMA in an 05 RL? Thanks for any advice.

Like yourself, I've been UN-able to play WMA files on my 2005 RL.....would be interested in knowing how to properly burn them on CD's.

I brought this same problem to the attention of my dealer last year, and he immediately ordered a new radio for my RL (after verifying that the RL wouldn't play the WMA encoded cd, and that the owners manual stated that it should). After he replaced the radio, it too wouldn't play the WMA encoded cd. The cd would play in a 06 RL, but not in the 05 RL. After contacting Acura Engineering, it seems that there was a misprint in the owners manual, and nobody discovered it until I brought it to their attention (in October of 2005??). So much for their technical proofreaders!! I asked if I could get a 2006 radio installed to be able to listen to WMA cd's. At first the customer service rep. thought that if I would pay full price for the new radio (and get no credit for the existing radio), and pay for the installation that it might be possible. A couple of days later he called me back, and said that no, Acura wouldn't approve of the replacement. He said something about a potential problem with the hands free link. When I first spoke to the CSR, some of the first words out of his mouth were "we're not responsible for misprints in the owners manual". When I heard that, I new that Acura was going to bone me (us). I thought that his initial response should have been that they would give me credit for the old radio, and pay the labor, with me only paying the difference in price between the new and old radios. I guess I thought I was talking to a Lexus CSR! So in a nutshell, they made the mistake, and we go without..
