Navi screen freezing

I have a 05 RL. It's got alot of miles but about a week ago the navi screen froze on me in the AC fan speed screen. I tried restarting the car and it go threw the loading screen and I was able to view the map then it glitched out and froze again, the buttons then stoped working. After trying again and again to turn off and restart the car. The problem seemed to get worse!!! The screen will look clean in the "Acura navigation screen" (welcome screen) but then it will freeze of not make it past that point. Anyone with a similar problem? Or any ideas as to how to fix it or just unplug it cause I think there's a draw from that problem that blew my alternator!! The list goes on!

It sounds like a DVD read issue. Try to clean the media, if that does not work then the unit may have to go back to Alpine for refurbish. It's a fixed cost of around $160.

So i had my Navi black out on me a few times. No buttons worked. Screen was lighted but no display. I had the dealer send it back to Alpine (many threads on here relating to this) Now everything back to normal. I had a unique situation for them to send it back and not doing it myself but check the DIY threads. I believe it's like $400 to have it done. Takes 4 weeks or so.

I hate to say it but I think your unit is going bad. Dealer was like "yep, it's needs to be sent for repair" like they see it more than you'd think. The car might be Honda but the Navi is Alpine...

You couldn't channel through the different display screens? Like AC control or Audio or settings ? But they sent the Navi control unit back to alpine and fix the WHOLE problem? Cause that was my dealers next step.. But I don't want foot the bill if it's not the major issue. And Acura has miss diagnosted me a few times now!! Please let me know.. Thanks!
