Nav screen stays in daytime setting at night..

Whenever I'm driving and my auto lights turn on the Nav screen would also switch to night mode (black map background). The last week or so it hasn't been switching and stays in daytime mode (white background).

Is there something that has to be reset? Not a big deal since I just press the button to switch it over but it's starting to bug me (yes the whole .5 seconds it takes to press the button )

Turning into a spoiled brat with this car

There is a setting in the Nav menu. There is also something related to the dash brightness if I remember correctly. I think going max brightness pulls the nav out of night mode, but I may be wrong.

If your auto lights work, your light sensor does too.

Max brightness doesn't pull the nav out of night mode.

Go into the settings in your nav and you can change the color of the screen. Might have been changed at some point? I have mine on black all the time because I find the other settings annoying.

First thing I did was go back to change the colour of the screen. It was still set to white for daytime & black for nighttime.

Agree, if lights change but navi don't, sensor good. I'd bet the tail lights aren't coming on

Did the battery reset work?

I think spy was on to something. mine was working until some point. Close to that i had pressed the dash brightness to max coz in the day you can barely see them sometimes. Maybe they are related.

How does one do a battery reset? disconnect?

Max brightness WILL pull it out of night mode.
I kept trying to figure out why I would have to keep putting it in night mode manually. I pushed the (-) brightness button once and it went into night mode. Ever since then it goes from night to day automatically. I like having my illumination bright but I hate having to keep switching from day to night so I can live with a little less brightness.

If you can barely see it like say right after a cold start it's because the LCD has to warm up. Unfortunately it takes a little while on cold days.

A "battery reset" consists of taking the cables off, and holding the terminals together for 30 seconds or so. If you had a regular ignition, turning the key to "On" would be optimal, but I don't think the RL is a good candidate.

What this does is discharge any stored charge in most of the capacitors in the circuits. Acura released a service bulletin to their shops instructing the techs do do this first if an RL with a bunch of random codes comes in.

Just pressed on the minus '-' once in dash brightness and voila. I too no longer have to switch it manually.

No no, it is spy. At least in this thread. Spy's the first to mention it in post#4.

It was surely nice of Jones to clarify and underline and assert further.
