Heads up boys and girls, after seeing this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...1#post13638909
I called Navtech (1-888-549-3798) and told them I wanted to buy in at the same price for the RL and they matched it with no hassle.
Its worth a try if you are interested.

Thats a long standing debate my friend.
And has earned its own thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-90/updating-05-rl-firmware-using-4-31c-844007/
For a fact here is what I can tell you:
To properly install navigation system software
version 4.73, the setup update disc that comes with
this software version must also have its software
installed. If it’s not installed, the system might not
boot up or it might just reboot over and over.
If you get a vehicle in your shop for either of those
problems, installing the setup update disc software
will restore normal operation. If, however, your
service client never got that disc, you’ll need to order
him or her a replacement. Just call the Acura Disc
Fulfillment Center at 888-549-3798, and request one
at no charge.

You might have more luck there, if you spend the 99 dollars you will get an update CD.

Does anyone happen to know what exactly is included with the firmware update? I can understand the maps, but does the firmware bring any new Nav features? I was always hoping they would move away from the stick figure mapping. I'm still running the OEM disc, haven't felt compelled to upgrade but for $99 I might spring for it.

I'm looking into getting the update disk... a few questions though... I've got an 06, which I think is the white disk, but I saw somewhere it might need the orange one? Can anyone tell me for sure which one I would use? I saw with an 05, you get 2 disks. Do you need 2 disks with the 06 or was that a difference between the 2 model years?
Also, Is this something that can be "ripped" off the internet onto a dvd-r and still work? (not asking whether you would do it or not, just wondering if it would work).
Thanks.

The RL is always white. Pop out the disk that's in there and take a look at the version. I believe if it's 4.09, 4.11, 4.12, 4.13(A, B, C, 0), or 4.20(A, B), you'll need the firmware disk. I have an FTP site with an image of the firmware disk, if you want it send me a PM. After you've got that squared away, it is theoretically possible to burn a new nav disk from the internet. I won't tell you how, though. You'll need a total of two blank dual layer DVDs if you go this route.
Thanks for the help.
If you wanted to double check, you could also find the firmware version of the nav system. I forget exactly how you do this, but you go into the setup options, and I think it's under system info or something like that. If it's 1.29 or higher, you definitely don't need the firmware disk.
