Just renewed for 3rd time at the $77 rate. The key seems to get to the "cancellation" dept who have the authority to give the $77 rate. When I talked to the initial person, they seemed ok to just cancel me (I had already expired) but I told her I wanted to clear my personal info... she xfered me to the dude who was happy to keep me as a customer at the $77 rate. The other thing to watch for is they automatically set your account for auto-renew via your credit card, which of course will not be at $77... anyway.. get past the initial call rep and to the person who start's asking why you want to cancel and explain that you'll only renew for $77 and it should be cool. enjoy -yoby

Smile Renewed today @ $77

My subscription was ending tomorrow so I called today to let them know I wish to cancel. I was transferred immediately to a live person and I explained it was too expensive since I'm only driving 1/2 the time these days as I've started taking public transportation (not) due to the high cost of fuel over the past year. He understood and said he could offer me the service at the regular rate but include six months free. In other words 1/2 price for the year which is $77 I said okay but what about Traffic. He said that would be another $47.88 per year so he confirmed the total for the year w/traffic to $124.88. It took about 12 minutes of phone time. There was no offer of Sirius, not that I wanted it.

The XM in my 06 CPO stopped working. The first CSR I spoke with at XM wanted me to pay a reinstatement fee. Called back and the second CSR offered me the 3 month trail that I accepted. Other places in this long thread say wait for the expiration notice and then perservere using the script provided. As with my experience sometimes it takes more than one call to get an agreeable CSR.

This worked great...I had originally emailed them advising I wanted to cancel...they emailed me back and offered me a discount for 3 months. Not interested, I called and requested my account closed and they came back with the $77 rate for everything XM. I'm happy and they kept me as a customer. Thanks.

Mine expires in a week. They have called me, but I have not spoken with them.

What should I do to get the 77 pricing? Try the "schtick" on the phone with them? I'm afraid it's so damn old it won't work...

I called and they offered me the $77/year, but said traffic was an extra $3.99/month! I declined. Was this guy wrong? Do the RL's automatically get traffic at the $77/year rate?

I renewed today and was offered 5 months for $20

I was planning on requesting the $77 renewal if the cancelation person didn't offer it. Instead they offered me a special 5 months for $20 which I accepted as the $4/mo was better 77/12 figure; i will just have to do the same call back in 5 months. Total call time under 10 mins.

$77/12 months.. Acurazine rules!

So I called up, got some chick, I'm like yeah, I wanna renew my service what are you offering... (wanted to see what THEY would say)... Well, she was offering my NOTHING. She wanted the 140 sumthing dollars or whatever crazy price, and even talking crazy like sign up for 2 or 3 years..

Obviously, I told her nah, get out of here.. and hung up.

5 min later...

Some dude picks up, sounds like a younger guy.. I say hey, uh, my free trial period ended and I got something in the mail from you guys telling me 77 bucks for 12 months.. and I wanna get that...

"Yeah, no problem, just verify your name, address, and phone number for me"

I feel like the man.

Acurazine rules!

yea I was prepared to say "oh, it's not on me I'm driving" or something, if they pulled that crap.

I love paying a little over $6/month for satellite radio.. thanks again XM!

They seem like they playing a bit of hardball now. After 3 years at $77/yr plus NavTraffic for $3.99/mo I called to stop automatic renewal in May. Instead they canceled my subscription and when I called to ask why it ended a month early they said it was a mistake. They activated my radio for 1 hour then deactivated it again and when I called back said that I'd have to pay a reactivation fee which I refused as it was their fault. I have demanded a refund for the remaining time. I also turned down the 5 month offer of $20.00 because it isn't worth the trouble and they refused to do the $77/yr deal again.
At this point I'm going to wait them out or not deal with them again. When I asked about year and multi year deals they said there were none beyond what is on their web site which are no deals at all. What is strange is that I have Serius in my other car and they do deal although not as low as $77/yr (about $100/yr). Too bad XM - I can live without them at the prices they want now($144-180/yr + XM Traffic).

Anyone get them to renew at $77 early? I seriously doubt I will have this car next year but would rather sell it with an active XM. My renewal would be around October or so.

Up for renewal. Was quoted $155 w/o Navtraffic. Told them that there was no way I was going to pay that and I want to cancel. Was transferred to another rep. She asked me if I enjoyed the service. I said yes, but it wasn't worth me paying double what I was paying before. She asked me what stations I listened to.

Bottom line I got XM and Navtraffic for $101 for a full year.

My 3 month trial runs out on Monday.
I called XM renew and got a very nice southern
accented woman and was ready to get a good deal
or cancel. She said "she's known for her good deals".
I asked her what she could do and she said $77/yr
plus nav/traffic for 47.88/yr total $124.88.
I said one of my Acrua friends got both for $101/yr.
She couldn't figure out how he got that price but
could give me another $12.95 discount if I charged it
and put my Visa card on file. So my total was $111.93,
XM radio with traffic. Next year I have to remember to
call them before the auto-renewal gets charged to Visa
at the higher price.

My RL is coming up for renewal soon, does anyone know which (800) number I should call? This will be my third time at $77/yr, no nav needed in Vermont.

I had called for this deal when I first purchased my car and there was a little confusion because I had not activated the radio yet. So I asked the girl about the deal and she said she would have it renew after the initial free 3 months at the $77 rate. So, I called BS on that .. but today I checked my account and found this:

Audio 1 year of XM Everything for $77 1 Year

NICE!

It's not WHO you talk to, it's HOW you talk to them.

My trick is to play a little dumb and to validate them .. If they think they are doing their job well and helping a guy out it helps. Commend them on the great service they have .. "please and thank you" .. all that shit

Of course, you will frequently get the occasional assclown who won't budge .. it's luck of the draw.

You'll be able to tell right away if they'll do it .. if not, say "sorry, not interested" and hang up .. try again later.

Just signed up for a 3 month trial along with 3 months of XM with the best of Sirius for $44. Apparently, the $77 deal does not include the best of Sirius. Not happy about the pricing. The best I could do was $164/year for XM with the Sirius. If I wanted Nav/Traffic it was an additional $3.99/month. Not sure what I am gonna do at the end of the trial. That's a lot of money just to hear Howard Stern.

Has anyone received a better deal with this combo?

Does that include price of $125 the Best of Sirius, Howard Stern, NFL Package, etc? The rep told me there was no way to do that package for $77.

I just renewed mine for the $77.00 it took 4 phone calls, and I ended up telling the guy that I just had my car serviced at acura and another customer told me about the promo price. He said that would not be a problem, but also wanted to put me down as a automatic 3 year renewal.Be sure to tell them that you only want to do a monthly or when the promo ends, you'll see a $350.00 charge on your account.

I got the $77 deal as well!

Again, I followed the script given on the first page of this thread.

1. Called 1 800 682 4114.

2. Told her I had a new Pontiac and gave her my number to setup.

3. Told the agent I received a promotional mailer for the $77 annual rate and could I please avail of the offer.

4. No hassles whatsoever. Got my account setup, thanked her for her courtesy, promptness and help.

C'est trés facile. Bonne chance...

Actually it was the original instructions. The only difference was that I didn't have to specify an offer code. $77 is way better than the $142 they wanted me to pay.

$77 Renewal

This worked for me. It took 2 calls because one the first call the 1st rep seemed OK with the $77 promotion but then transferred to the "Listener Care Dept." The rep in that dept. said that the promotion had expired so I ended the call then called back. The 2nd time around, I was going to be transferred again but I told the rep what that I was transferred the first time I called and that the listener care dept rep was not aware of the promotion. She took care of it herself. Next year I'll call back to get the promotion because otherwise they'll automatically renew @ the current rate.

Thanks for the information.

Ha!!!!

$120 / XM, nav traffic and weather!

Good luck jacking me $$ in one year (if XM is still around). I went to wal mart and got a prepaid visa card (cost $3.00) for $130.00 so it will be pretty much worthless in a year anyway!!!!

Next year Ill do it again!!!!!

Thanks Acurazine!

Also I just HAD to say....
If XM only charged $77 a year for everybody, Would anyone complain, or does feeling like your getting the $77 deal make you appreciate it more?

Personally, I think $12 a month is a little too much, plus the way they do business hurts them. $77 a year and Im a Happy Man!

If they lowered their rates to $77, they Might make it. Most people lost interest a LOooong time ago because of cost and some forgot they even have the capability of having XM. Plus its really just a luxury.

Ill try out the Nav/weather and see if its worth doing and re-evaluate next year.

Once again,
Thanks AcuraZine
