XM sent me a card today saying that they were activating the XM Select package today, Nov. 9th for a three month free trial. I went out and sure enough I had service again! Just in time for the holidays! You can call 1-888-253-8296, provide your radio ID and request a radio refresh. This offer is only good until Nov. 16th.

 

Did you have to provide a credit card number to start this?

 

No, they gave me a free trial when I first bought the car a couple years ago but I never paid for the service. They had my address & phone number all this time and I suppose they are just trying to drum up fresh business. I don't use this car when traveling, and my commute to work is under 5 minutes, so I had a hard time justifying the extra expense. The first time they activated the traffic nav feature with the radio, but only the radio this time.

 

This didn't work for me. They wouldn't give me another free trial period since the original owner of the RL utilized the original trial period. I even tried to smooth talk them. The best they would offer was a promotional/introductory rate on new service. Oh well...
