Many audiophiles or music fans wonder about the viability of the new DVD-Audio format and have trouble finding retail outlets for these new discs. As one of the primary producers of new HD Audio 5.1 Surround Music DVD-Audio/Video titles, it is obvious that the major labels are more focused on low fidelity downloads and exisiting in a new digital age when music is perceived as free than on the high end experience. It'e been up to small labels like my own label, AIX Records, Telarc and Chesky to continue on.

There are not a lot of retail music stores that carry DVD-Audio because they don't get the support from the big 4 labels AND their own employees don't know what they are. The best place to search for and acquire DVD-Audio discs is to visit online retailers and search for DVD-Audio or go to the producers themselves. There is some really great content out there.

 

Thanks for the advice. It's unfortunate the major labels haven't embraced this. Maybe if it found it's way into more automobiles we'd see more produced in the format?
