Avoid Toll Roads

So I don't know if this happens to anyone else but it happens to me and it is pissing me off. The last couple of times i have made trips from Hartford, CT to Philadelphia, PA or vice versa I changed the routing method to avoid tolls(i'm getting tired of paying 11 plus dollars to go to philly every other week and 20 dollars to go back to Hartford. So i have been trying to see if my Navi would get me to a route that would allow me to avoid tolls. Well the first time i tried to do this i was heading home from Philly and when i put it in it kept puttin me onto the Turnpike and i kept ignoring it and following route 1 which would take me to NY without going through any tolls and no matter what it kept pushing for me to take the turnpike. So eventually i gave in and took it and of course i had to pay the toll(though it wasnt as expensive as usual, but still) Then while heading back to Philly last week i tried to do the avoid toll roads again the nav took me off my normal route and put me on a route that would make me pay a 3 dollar toll first then a 5.50 toll then an 11 dollar toll then an 9 dollar toll then another 3 dollar toll. Which is way more than my normal toll fee when going to Philly. Then when going back home this week i decided to just follow my own mind and took a route that only allowed me to pay 1 toll and if i follow that route back i wouldnt have to pay any. Why is it that the Nav can't do that on its own?? Is there something wrong with it? I am thinking it has to do with the update i did on it. Before i did the update i never had any issues like that. If i wanted it to avoid toll it would avoid toll now it seems to search for the tolls. This is pretty annoying.

you can tell the nav to avoid certain streets along your route, manually select the toll road to avoid.
