Has anybody upgraded the door speakers? I'm condsidering the Polk Audio SR6500's but want to be sure that the depth is adequate.

If anybody has, can you specify what woofers you installed and how they sound?

With the system being a 'Bose' amplified active stereo you may have difficulty 'upgrading' the speakers without upgrading/replacing the amp too. The Bose stereo in my RSX-S is 4 ohm impedence and is diificult to find replacement speakers that will work with the onboard amp. The OEM system in the RL is pretty darn good. My friend who drives a Lexus LS400 prefers the RL system over his; the same with my friend who has an Infinity M35X.

 

I am going to be upgrading the amp as well. While the sound is good for stock, it's by no means superior.

You are right however; there would be no point in upgrading the speakers without applying a new processor and amp.

I'm just worried that the stock speakers may be shallow, and that aftermarket speakers might not fit. Oh well, only one way to find out. Off comes the door panel.

Alpine and Polk make some shallow depth 6.5" speakers that I am sure will fit. The RL doors are pretty deep. The rear deck sub is an 8" I believe. I do have a Polk 8" woofer that may fit in there. Keeps us informed of your findings.
