I find Acura nav to be awful. I updated two years ago, never again. Google maps so much better.

Thank you for contacting Acura. We apologize for any confusion. There is no version 4.B2. The latest disc for your 2005 RL is version 4.B1.

So don't get confused...they will probably fix that reference soon.

A decade old computer can't hang with the latest and greatest computer technology? Unpossible.

Do you have another brand that provides a better interface?

What I find interesting is comparing page 1 with the 2012 update.

Lots more miles, poi's, etc.

But the list of "New prime coverage" Cities is the exact same list shown for last years update.

Check out

I was under impression just because a city isn't listed in new updates, that does not mean they haven't updated POI's etc. just that no major NEW entire cities added ? ?

POI's isnt appealing to me as most places can be found via Yelp or Where apps.

I'm more interested in streets/routes being updated.

1. because of the update CD if you have the first disc
2. the website.
US map coverage was expanded to include the following areas:
Highlighted cities are new to the Detailed Coverage Area

Well, when I said "POI's, etc" I meant (poorly) that the etc included things like minor road updates, etc.

That the list of "New" cities simply meant "these are brand new areas we've added detailed information for" but does not also mean "and we haven't updated a thing anywhere else!"

I think they also do things like fix roads in other areas, etc. with new information. But as they are just updates they don't qualify as "new detail" areas.

Ahhh, ok... I checked the cities that they updated this year and none of them are in my travel areas.

They made some big changes last year (I think) to the roads around me so I did purchase that one.

When they update my area(s) again I will buy a new disc.

Where do you see this list?

I looked at the PDF and only saw areas that they've added detailed coverage to.

I didn't see a section for cities they've made updates to?

The PDF has a ton of cities listed that are changing.

Okay, I guess we are reading it differently. I read it as highlighted ones are NEW cities. It says "Highlighted cities are new to the Detailed Coverage Area" - I don't read this as "these are cities with updates" which is I'm guess how you are reading it. To me this says these cities are newly added. Not these cities are the only ones with updates.

This is what they said but still scratching head a little.

---

Thank you for contacting Acura. The cities listed under the New Detailed Coverage category are cities that our road teams have verified in between releases. Each update includes over 100,000 new miles of verified roads and over 300,000 new points of interest throughout all of the United States and Canada, not just the cities highlighted in yellow.

But when you ask it to find "Home Depot" it still shows it as being 2021 miles away. The fact that they have added the newly opened store doesn't help much when the system doesn't sort by distance from present location.

But if Honda makes you drive 2k miles to the Depot you'll spend more in the service dept and need to buy a new Acura sooner

Maybe that is why I have a 155K miles and it's a 5 day trip to the Depot when I need a new part for my garbage disposer!

Okay unasked for further clarification. So now I believe that they are saying road updates are all over US and not only yellow cities. What follows is my question, then their reply.

--
So you are saying that the "100,000 new miles of verfied road" is all over the US, not only in the cities listed in yellow? Or the 100,000 miles is all within the yellow cities? I could interpret your response in a couple different ways.

--

Thank you for contacting Acura. The update includes new information throughout the entirety of the United States and Canada. The cities highlighted in yellow are cities that have been added to the detailed coverage list since the last update. This means that our road teams have visited the city to verify road details; however, this does not mean that they are the only cities to receive updated information on the new disc. For further information regarding detailed coverage, please contact us at the phone number below.

Man this irks me that the US disc always goes on sale at some point, while the Canadian one NEVER does, AND they force us to get the "two disc" package of Canada plus USA, you can't "just" get Canada-only. Over $200 by the time it gets to your door.

And the so-called "southern Canada" coverage on the US disc is absolutely horrible.
