2006 RL Removing the NAV DVD drive

Does anyone know how to remove the 2006 RL trunk mounted NAV DVD Drive?

I cannot find any way to remove the whole unit.

Thanks

Jim

Jim, the 2G RL Service Manual is in the Main Forum,,,,the Sticky for GARAGE.

This is the Service Manual pdf for the NAVIGATION SYSTEM:

The instructions and diagram for the DVD drive mount are on page 109.

it is very easy to do...you need to carefully remove the upward mounted carpet. There are some white glued on white snaps that need to be pulled away to allow this one piece section to drop out of the way. If these snaps get seperated from the carpet you can reglue with a plastic cement. Once this carpet is pulled down, you can use either an 8 mm wrench or a 5/16" wrench to loosen the 4 side mounting screws. With the unit loose you can now remove all the plugs. The locking clips can be very difficult to unsnap. What I do is use a small electronic screwdriver for leverage to dislodge the locking tab grip while I push in on the plug, then it pulls out relatively easy....total job 10 minutes if experienced at it. If you are sending the unit back to Alpine for repair, just leave the carpet panel down until you are ready to reinstall....good luck.
