2005 RL want to stream ipad/iphone video on NAV
Hello all,
I'm new to this forum and was hoping to get any feedback regarding an ios device video streaming onto the NAV display. There is a company Coastaltech that offers a NAV Lock Pick and was wondering if any of you have this unit or another compatible unit that can stream video from an ios device? My local dealer wants to install the PAC Audio uPAC-HON1 HONDA ACURA IPOD IPHONE AUX ADAPTER. They also quoted a second device an OEM Video interface to accomodate a rear camera. I was told that the Coastaltech.com Acura lock Pick would enable two camera inputs and iOS interface with streaming video capability. It's been difficult getting a hold of the Coastaltech sales around the recent Holidays so I can't verify that the unit will stream video? Your advise and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Well....I was able to get sales assistance form Coastaltech! The unit will ship on Friday, I'll post pictures and installation details as I will install the system myself. I'm getting full iOS video/audio streaming capabilities and two nightvision cameras with color overlayed markers in incraments of 1,3, and 6 feet. Below are all the features included in the lock pick:

Hopefully no need to go behind the head unit.
How much for the unit, and from where?

I know a member here has TVandNavtogo. tlmaster maybe? Does anyone have any insight into a feature comparison between the two?

Website states it does not need to go behind unit if you have Nav traffic with XM. It plugs in trunk. So this should be an easy in stall, just the routing of the iphone cable seems to be the hardest?

Video? No. Music? No. Telephone? Yes.

I ned Pandora in my car... it would be very disapointing to have a $50K car and have to plug in a $10 transmitter in order to listen to music from my phone. I cant believe a 2008 model mid level luxury vehicle is not capable of playing music from the most popular phone in the world.

We can get you a box of tissues if you need them Toppatop...
The bottom line is that you need to install something to get the music play in the car.
The USA spec works flawlessly for media in my 05, I use slacker radio which is basically the same thing and it shows the song titles and I can skip from the steering wheel.
IMO if the dealer tried to make it work for us it would probably suck anyway.
Oh and Siri works on HFL/bluetooth as well as the phone calls.

seriously... why do you need to stream an iphone to the nav screen.
are you gonna watch TV in your car?? rather than waste all that frickin money on $hit.. why not just get a new ipad and a data plan and stream video to an ipad on the new retina display. it would look better and instead of having a bunch of money tied up in yoru car, you'd have an ipad you could take around with you for other things.
the screen on teh RL nav sucks anyway.. .low res. i mean it's great for displaying audio data and just seeing the map.. but i can't imagien it's remotely good for watching tv or movies....
get the ipad and be done with it. better use of your money. IMHO

Glad it worked out! The AUX input is a tech only feature for '07 & '06.
However, Pandora sucks when it comes to sounding good. Not sure if you have the paid version, but the free one blows as far as quality. There is a good system in your car that a DVD-Audio disk will unleash.

technology package models only he means TLA11384. I have an 06' RL but the base model and I do not have any inputs, but the previous owner had an ipod adapter installed in the glove. Just sucks that I can not control the playlists through my phone, i can only go forward and backwards on tracks but I have to unplug my iphone just to switch playlists.

IMHO, your best bet to try out the DVD-A is to buy the DVD-A version of the "Audio" album from the Blue Man Group on Amazon. There are a few other cheap DVD-As on Amazon, but a bunch of the stuff I would be interested in is $30 or $40. They don't really make them anymore apparently, so they're pretty rare. Another format that never really caught on. It's a shame.

I get books on CD from my library and listen to them on my commute, so they're not entirely dead. DVD-A really is pretty amazing, too. A lot better than you can get through an iPod.

I have a 2005 RL with Nav and would appreciate if anyone can tell me what is needed to connect my iPhone 6s to the factory stereo to play music from my iPhone through the car stereo speakers. The phone is paired and connected via Bluetooth, enabling me to make hands free phone calls. However, even when the phone is connected via Bluetooth, I can't play music from my iPhone 6s through the car stereo. There is no visible audio input that I can find, where I would be able to connect the iPhone. I realize that a 2005 is an older model RL, but I find it hard to believe that there doesn't seem to be a way to easily do this, in this car which has so much technology, including voice commands. Any suggestions and/or links to aftermarket equipment is greatly appreciated! Thanks, John

You can first find out if a previous owner had added Bluetooth audio to it by pressing the AUX/ button a few times see what options turn up. Also, I am not sure, but I think you have an AUX input on the 2005 inside the middle arm rest.
There was a workaround I think is mentioned here https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-a...-733145/page2/ , and a little search can turn you up more.

The RL didn't add AUX audio support until 2007 tech came out. Bluetooth streaming came in 2009. You need an aftermarket solution. USASPEC is the most common choice.
