XM Cut out

Here's a new one...

I was driving along yesterday and switched from a CD to XM radio. The channels, titles, etc. showed up on the display, but no sound came out! I turned the volume up and could only hear dead air. I tried switching back between CD and XM, turning the sound system off, and even turning the car off, but still no sound! I got home, left the car for a few minutes, and when I came back XM was working again.

Anyone had a similar issue? Anyone have any guesses as to why this happened? I love this "techological Rubik's Cube" known as the RL!

I've seen similar behavior that I reported later on in my "XM Loading Error?" thread:

In my case my parking garage has always been involved though...

Was it only the XM not working or the entire system. I have the same issue with XM only not working in my Cayenne periodically. I think that sometimes XM isn't getting through. All else works great for me but the XM. XM was having some issues yesterday in my Cayenne and then I wasn't getting any artist names, only radio station titles. After I came back about 3 hours later, I got all the text information. I know it is all digital so there there will be some errors.

I haven't had any known issues yet in the RL but then my wife listems to mostly the MP3's simpy because she love not having to switch the channels and gets at least 65 -70 songs on each disc.

Actually, I've had XM since 2002 in several cars, so I know that when the XM signal is not getting through you get a "No Signal" or "XM Loading" message. In this case, everything appeared normal. The channel/name/song title was showing in the nav display and in the display above the dash, but there was no sound. The signal was clearly getting through. I even tried switching channels but there was no sound on any of them.
