Where to purchase OEM parts from overseas?

I haven't been here much lately because I just had a baby girl not too long ago but I'll be on here and there since things have settled down a bit.

I wanted to ask if anyone can point me to where I can purchase a set of used Acura RL/Honda Legend parts from overseas. I'm basically trying to source the power folding mirrors for my RL. I've searched the web but no luck. Any used car vendors/suppliers from overseas? Any from overseas willing to lend a hand?

I know I can get the power folding mirror option here in the states from the MY 11-12 Advance models but they cost around $1000 from the dealer. I'm just trying to find a cheaper alternative.

Thanks in advance you guys.

I use Lings Honda as a reference for parts. They are in the UK can have access to a lot. They are good responding via email.

Anyone know if the UK or JDM Legend/RL has heated side mirrors combined w/ the power folding mirrors?

It only makes sense that they do since they are wired to the rear defrost. My question is where is the power folding button located and what about the relay also? I was going to look into this mod as I did it on my accord also. I haven't found much on this and decided to leave it alone. If you go ahead with it, post any info you find.

The button for the fold function is right next to the mirror controls.

At my mirror controls I have 3 options. L/R, the mirror dial, and headlight washer button. Is there an extra button or would it replace the power washer button? I'm going to try to find a picture.

Sorry to threadjack but wheres the headlight washer button ? I thought there was no control for it. I'd like to switch it off for when I don't want to use it.

Its a button...you push and they pop up and spray the lights. If you don't want to use it, you simply don't push it.

Mine's not like that. When I spray on the windshield if the headlights are on, it will spray on them lights too. And really it doesn't do shit to the headlights except emptying the windshield washer container faster. I juss flip my headlights off n spray.

Strange and stupid functionality if you ask me seeing how the RL goes through windshield washer fluid like nobody's business. What year do you have?

They must have changed the fucntionality between 05 and 08, which is what I have.

This is the button I push if I want to spray the headlights. If I never push, they never get sprayed. I wonder if the power folding button replaces that or if its somewhere else.

I was researching the topic when I first got my RL as well.

The JDM legend DID come with power folding mirrors.

Here is a picture of what the switch looks like.

I can source the switch and the mirrors but the issue is the wiring/power harness.

No idea if the OEM harness would be direct plug and play for the JDM mirrors and switch.

As you can see that the switch looks a bit different, but it can be pulled out from the back and would be a direct replacement of the USDM and or CDM (Canadian) switch.

(Canadian) switch.
Where are you sourcing your parts from? I might be interested in that mod also. I can tell you from experience you will have to make your own hardness and run it behind the dash. I did the same thing with my Accord. I wanted to wire it to my rear defrost button but I like the fact this is already done. One thing you are forgetting is you will need to get a relay;

You might also need a wiring diagram. Im not sure if the RL uses something similar but Im sure it can be made to work. You just need to find out what wire does what in the RL. wires.

Ok, I guess sourcing from overseas is much more expensive than purchasing the 11-12 advanced RL mirrors here in the states. I will be going w/ this route as I can probably get a set for $700 but need to repaint.

For those of you who are interested in this mod this is what I will be doing and the list of parts that are needed.

11-12 Acura RL (ADVANCED) power folding mirrors

11-12 Acura RL (ADVANCED) switch - (part #22)
http://parts.sonsacura.com/products/Acura/2011/RLRL-ADV/SWITCH-ASSEMBLY--REMOTE-CONTROL-MIRROR/3338662/35190-SJA-013.html

I will be making my own harness and installing it based on this thread-
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=870988&page=1
I'll keep you guys updated and should get all the parts within a few weeks.

I will be interested in this and will be following. I been trying to source the KB1 mirrors but they are impossible to find. Sons doesn't have the JDM switch, do they? One thing to be careful of is the mirror base. Are you sure it is the same and that it fits? If it fits, something else to look into is if the internals can be swapped out (the RL housing looks better IMO) plus all you would need to swap is probably the motor. The other thing you would need to test or find out about is the wiring and find out wires to where. A friend of mine has access to Hondata or whatever its called and can possibly pull wiring diagrams to help. In very interested in this as it would be nice to keep USDM mirrors as opposed to awkward pointing JDM haha.

All these parts are from the USDM market. I spoke w/ a buddy that works at the dealership and they would have to speacial order everything. The base are the same, the only difference is the power folding mirror which includes the motor and internals.

According the PFM TL mirror conversion thread all you need to do is run x2 wires to each side of the mirrors where the power folding wires will originally be (one for power and one to turn in). Then run the other end to the switch. The switch will automatically have power once plugged in. Hopefully it's this easy but we'll see.

Unless they changed the motor or the switch to contain a relay, a relay is also needed or else you will push the button to close and they will stay closed. Check out the diagram I used for my 6th Gen accord.

I agree its simply but I don't see it happening without a relay. Check out any power folding mirror for any other car and you'll see a relay in there somewhere, unless of course all our cars have relays which would be sick and plausible!! If you can get a JDM switch from a USDM dealer, let me know as I'd be interested in getting one also as the last I knew they couldn't order JDM parts but maybe your friend has a in or a way around it.

The switch isn't a JDM part though, it's from the USDM 11-12 RL. The USDM switch looks completely different from the picture shown above. It basically looks like a normal mirror switch but has the power foliding mirror button. If you find an interior picture of an 11-12 RL Advanced model you will see what I mean.

I'm not sure If a relay is needed or not. According this post he didn't mentioned he used one. I guess we'll see though.

"This is what I did in my Accord 8th gen

to complete the folding option using JDM switch+chinese mirrors.
DRIVER SIDE FIRST!
1. Put 2 wires with terminal (taken from an old harness) on the OEM harness.

2. connect the harness to the switch to get powered. You need a tester light to check which one get power when you push the folding button.

3. Connect the powered wire (fold In) to the Pin #4 and ground wire (fold Out) to the Pin #5 on the mirrors plug for test purpose.

4. Now connect the wires from switch to the mirrors. You need to remove it and find the blue with black stripes and connect to the wires from the switch.
AND THAT'S IT! LETS GO TO THE PASSENGER SIDE!!!
1. Now run the 2 wires through the door jam (you need patience here).

2. be sure that the wire does not interfere with the door glass canal.

3. Now connect the wires from switch to the mirrors. Find the blue with black stripes and connect to the wires from the switch.
4. Run the 2 wires from the door jam under the dash to the driver's side.
5. Run the 2 wires from the RH door through the LH door jam.
6. FINALLY: connect the 2 positive LH & RH wires that Folds In to the powered (folds In) cable on the same. Do the same for the negative (folds Out) wires.

7. Put back the switch (obviously haha)

Ya, I read the post. If the relay isnt needed the thats pretty good as less wires will be needed. The the USDMmodel came with power folding mirrors? That make it so much easier esp if it all fits. When are you looking to try this? Im going to try and source the parts to see if I can get it to work. What model of 11/12 RL is it?

I hope a relay isn't needed as well. I'm just waiting on the funds from my tax return to come in and I'll place an order through my friend. So maybe a few weeks.

Yes, the USDM model came w/ power folding mirrors as well. The 11-12 RL had 3 trims.

1. Based
2. Technology
3. Advanced w/ CMBS, ACC, authentic wood, and power folding mirrors.

Without employee discount you can get the parts for $930 shipped from vendors here.

Here are the part numbers.
Switch: 35190-SJA-013
PFM (L) in CBP : 76250-SJA-306ZD
PFM (R) in CBP : 76200-SJA-306ZD

So looking at this, and what I noticed is that the 08 mirrors and the 11/12 are from what I can tell the exact same minus the power folding functionality. To make things cheaper, you could source out the internal motor or actuator and modify your existing mirrors thus saving paint money. I haven't seen and 11/12 up close in person. Do the actual mirrors look the same? The only problem is I don't see proper diagrams with the proper part numbers. The diagrams for the 08 and 11/12 are exactly the same.

I would think that all you need are parts 10, 11, 12, and 20. That would save about $400.

http://www.oemacuraparts.com/parts-c...-bumper/mirror

EDIT: Acutally, parts 10 and 20 (the actuators) are identical between 2007 and 2012 Advance. It looks like it could be as easy as parts 11, 12, and the switch.

2007: http://www.oemacuraparts.com/parts-c...-bumper/mirror

Correct, the actuator is just the part that moves the actual mirror up/down/left/right. Parts 11 and 12 look like what you would need, my only concern is that it doesn't look quite like what the actual part should look like based on the other mirrors that I've gutted and replaced. I might have to roll the dice and have one ordered and test it out.

Choc, if you're going to go that route let us know how it works cause it'll save me hundreds. I'll wait on the order and see how just using part#11&12 and swapping it into our existing mirror plays out.

Let me find a DIY on pulling apart the door panel/mirror etc and I'll see when I can order the part to take a look. That would save a crap load and probably be one of the best mods. Also want to wait for this crap snow to clear up a bit.

Ok so I wanted to update this thread.

I have been doing a lot of research and I am gathering as much information as I can in order to complete this project. However, I need some help from all you electrical gurus (cough..cough..Heavy & 007). I am in the process of ordering all the parts I need but just want to confirm the wiring could work based on my discoveries.

So it turns out that the 05-08 USDM RL mirror connector plug has a 16 pin connector but only 10 slots are occupied w/ 6 slots being empty. The 11-12 USDM RL Advanced w/ the PFM function has the same 16 pin connector as well but it has 14 slots filled and two slots empty. Notice that all the wires are the same between the two connectors except pin #1,2,9, & 10. Pin # 1 & 10 isn’t used for anything. Pin 2 & 10 are the wires (positive & negative) for the PFM function.

05-08 & 11-12 female terminals:

The 05-08 USDM RL mirror switch plug contains a 10 pin connector but only has 9 pins total w/ slot #9 being vacant. The 11-12 USDM RL Advanced model has the same 10 pin connector but all 10 slots are filled (Waiting on confirmation from MaintenanceMan). It turns out that pin#9 (missing on the 05-08 USDM RL) is the positive wire for the PFM function.

I also have the 11-12 USDM RL Advanced wiring diagram for the switch and the mirror to hopefully help w/ my question.

Switch Diagram:

Mirror Diagram:

From the PFM conversion that I’ve seen online the majority will have two additional wires for the PFM function on the mirror connector plug. It will also have empty slot (s) on the switch connector plug. The basic is to find the correct polarity and connect the two wires on the switch connector plug to the two wires on the mirror connector plug to enable the PFM function. My question is that I have the two additional wires on the mirror connector plug but only have one slot vacant on the switch connector plug. I plan on putting a pig-tail pin into the empty slot#9 (positive) and connecting it to the positive wire on the mirror connector plug. So now it leaves me w/ the remaining negative wire, can I just use the negative (ground) wire that is on the switch connector plug that used for the majority of the mirrors function (tilt, reverse, etc) and run it to the negative wire on the mirror connector plug to get the PFM function to work? Note that no relay is needed because the switch is in the form of dual polarity.
Let me know what you guys think as I really want to complete this project and provide a detailed DIY.

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. I figured it out, it supposed to be wired up using reverse polarity.

Look out for the DIY coming in a few weeks as I'm doing this little by little.

Good stuff!! I envy your weather. We're in the middle of getting another 15cm of the white stuff, and nothing to do with Pablo haha. Have you ordered parts yet?

Yes, I've ordered all the parts necessary. I just got done creating the harness and taking driver's door panel apart. Will be disassembling my mirror and comparing PFM turn actuator soon.

I should be done in a week or two if all goes well. Wish me luck, if I run into problems I will post on this thread.

Nice, get some detailed pics. I'll be trying this also. I'm really interested in seeing this work without a relay.

Quick Reply: Where to purchase OEM parts from overseas?
