When's a good time to replace timing belt/water pump/tensioner?
#41
Hello: Am currently replacing timing belt on 2007 Acura RL. Went just fine until I put the new marked belt on and had it jump about 7 teeth on both camshafts. Maybe it wasn't fully tensioned. Anyway, the problem is getting both camshaft gears on #1 TDC. The front one isn't too bad, but the rear one jumps when turned with a wrench so that setting it on the timing mark is hard (nearly impossible). Any ideas?

Does anybody know of a dealership running a special on the timing belt/water pump service? Hamilton Honda used to have one waaaay back for less than $500. Would love to find one in that price range in the NJ, PA, DE or MD areas. Please let me know. Thanks!

That price would be really good. In meantime if you don't find one, check this: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...t-kits-888928/
My advice is go to Rockauto (lower than amazon), buy the Aisin kit. The Gates one for 40 bucks less will be tempting, but it's Gates pump is a risk. Aisin is the same OEM supplier together with Yamada to our dealers.
@163 bucks, and you find a good mechanic to do it, you could still get away with 500 or less.

Please someone from DE,NJ,PA or MD get me a reputable Honda/Acura mechanic. These dealers either won't give me prices, leave me on hold or the quotes are outrageous. West Chester Acura: full service is $1895. Timing belt only $1500. What?
