I know there is some information on this forum regarding deciphering VIN's, but thus far haven't been able to answer a question.

I am looking at a '07 RL from a guy out of my area, and it is listed has having navigation. All '07's that I have looked at with NAV, are model's KB166 and have the "tech" package. This car's VIN is KB165, all that I have seen with a KB165 are models w/o the tech package.

The question I'm fighting is: a) if this car has NAV and b)all cars with NAV have the tech package and are KB166 models, how can this car have NAV and be a KB165? Is the tech package the only way to get NAV?

KB165 is an RL BASE (non Navi)

Perhaps it was a NAVI modification (not OEM) as some BASE RL owners have done and reported in this forum?

You can also just go to the honda.com website and sign up for ownerlink. When you go to add a new vehicle to your account, just enter the VIN and it will tell you what model it is. I can do that for you if you'd like.
