Thumbs up Video: 0-60MPH (and to 80) in my 05 RL

I wanted to get some kind of idea of how fast my car was before I do a aftermarket CAI.

The only modifications I have currently is Lightweight Crank Pulley and Custom True Dual Exhaust.

The windows were down in this video so I may have had some extra wind resistance hurting my time. By the time I hit 55 I was going up a hill and I also very slightly missed the shift point at 1st gear.

The time by my estimation for 0-60 was 6.4 seconds but could be faster. I am getting a Bluetooth OBD II reader so I can get exact timings and HP charts. Not bad for a full size luxury sedan.

Thought you guys may be interested:

your windows down and to much gas in the tank... you could shave time.

Cool vid though.

It was an on ramp, but it was pretty flat because it lead up to a hill. This is about the only place I can do this speed safely with getting a ticket. Once I get my OBD II bluetooth module I will post some real timings and charts.

Is the 0-60 the same if you let it autoshift?

Ill just wait for my OBD II bluetooth module about as accurate as you can get, should be this Friday or Saturday. The nearest drag strip is an hour away.

They are very cheap and you get a hell of alot of data using the torque app on android. Horsepower, rpms, boost, etc etc etc...

Motortrend pegged the 05 RL 0-60 at 7 seconds back in 05. Seeing how honda motors dont really get going til 100K, you took off the restrictive exhaust (would be better without cats) and have the crank pulley, I think thats a typical time. I think I clocked mine at 6.5 seconds during the summer.

Car mag times are all over the place. You can get 4 different numbers from the same source in 4 different write ups.

I got my for the OBDII timer. Not quite sure about HP and tq, but I'll give it a chance.

I am confident I can get some pretty accurate readings for horsepower and torque without the need for a dyno.

Got my OBD2 Sensor awhile ago, it confirms the 6.4 second time, I will try again later see if I can get any better because it was pretty windy out when I took this one. Also the 0-60 is the only accurate number because I stopped acceleration after that.

I have also that Elm327 but i have that AutoDoctor Lite, i would like to have that Torque. It seems that i dont have that option because i have Nokia N8 and it is symbian phone and Torque is only for androids.

If you can find any old cheap android phone or a cheap android tablet it should work, probably could find one for $20-50 dollars locally used.

Did some more test runs today, 6.4 seems pretty consistent, going up a slight incline and it goes all the way up to 7.9. The max HP value I got was 220WHP at 5320RPM. That was after driving around for about 30 minutes doing 0-60 runs.

You can probably fins an Android OS emulator online. People have to develop software somewhere, and I don't think they do it on the phone itself.

Good job, Matt. Any chances you could run a 1/4 somewhere? You wouldn't be going much more than 100, and you could also look for the 3rd gear VTEC stall.

Car mags have us in the high 14s.

I just realized that this is the second data point that puts the RL WHP at 220. There have always been questions about the Dyno's ability to accurately measure the RL because the SH-AWD doesn't think it is getting traction, and we don't know for sure where it is trying to apply the power.

Dynos have consistently put the RL at ~207 WHP, or a 29% drivetrain loss. If 220 is real and accurate, that means we are only at 24%. That's still bad, but better than 29%. I'm interested to see where the torque falls relative to the Dyno.

Hmm, in that case i can maybe use my minilaptop (Win7) with Torque. There is also Bluetooth.

Yeah I can probably do this eventually, I mean I already got pretty close in the video I posted. I am still trying to figure the torque app out so let me do that first, there is a way to graph horsepower like a dyno, just havent figure it out yet

Here is a cool app, might test it out to see if it is accurate at all: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rfexpert&hl=en EDIT: Looks like this app uses the accelerometer, I have used an app like this on the iPad before, its alright but not as accurate as the OBD2 sensor.

What program are you using to measure 0-60?
