Trying to talk my wife into a RL
We currently own a 2003 Denali XL, and with the price of gas, and the warranty up, I am not interested in keeping it.
With the current prices, I think the RL is the best deal on the market.
She is interested in a 5 Series, and I don't want to spend that cash.
How would you sell her on the RL?
This is my TL, the wife gets to drive the better car on a daily basis.

If you live anywhere that there is snow in the winter, remind your wife of the benefits of AWD both from a convenience factor and a safety factor. With safety in mind, remind your wife of the RL's amazing crash test results and then mention that wonderful Acura reliability. If she still isn't convinced, convince the local dealers let her drive each vehicle for a couple of days and that should seal the deal. If she still insists on the BMW, call your divorce attorney and move on.

Tell her the RL will drive instead of sit in the shop being fixed. Acura reliability has generally been rated much better than Audi/BMW/MB. That's my reason for seriously considering getting rid of my S4 and getting an RL instead.
Of course $50K buys you a fully loaded RL vs. a pretty dry 5 series. Unless she pays the entire bill I'd say that counts too. If money is no object just get what you want.

If reasoning with your wife (as per my previous post) doesn't work, then mention that she can have the RL AND a diamond bobble or two for less than the price of the Bimmer. You may have to throw in a few days at the spa to close the deal.

Let her drive the RL. Our first Acura was a 2000 TL, which we kept 4 years. We started talking about trading and looked at a new 04 TL and 04 BMW 535. I really wanted the BMW but she liked the TL better, so that is what we got. Traded the 04TL for an 05 RL in February and she loves it. Says she wouldn't drive anything else if she can help it.

I totally agree with melly, thats why we have an RL and an S2000.
After test driving the 5 series, GS, M35, RL and the mb350, we easily chose the RL. Have her test drive all the cars and she'll more than likely choose the RL. Unless of course, shes a brand whore, and then she'll probably choose the bimmer or the benz.

Speaking of brand whores...
There are some magazines that would gush over how great a Yugo was if it just had a BMW badge on it!

Have her check out the comfort level of the seats. My wife and her freinds say that the RL has the most comfortable seats in its class. They all drive Audi, BMW, MB, Lexus and others and feel this is true. I was impressed by the comments. I agree that she should drive both cars for a couple of days and then let her decide. I will be honest in saying that she should drive the BMW first. BMW's do have the best driving experience and does put you in touch with the road. However, make sure you compare apples to apples (comparably equipped vehicles) and that should help her make up her mind. $42K vs. $56K out the door and you can go on vacation, remodel part of the house, buy a diamond upgrade or just keep the money in your pocket.
Of course you could point out that the BMW doesnt allow you to change the navigation routes on the fly while driving the car. Or that their seats are not as comfortable, or that the materials in the RL are far superior to the materials in the BMW. How about the fact that my wife passes on a fully loaded 545i because she said that it was butt ugly at this time.
Ultimately, it is up to her. If that is what makes her happy then you should let her go for it. If you want an RL, then now is a great time to trade up at the ed of the year.

Will she drive her car hard? It pisses me off to see people (and usually women) in loaded BMWs driving them like well, pussies.
I dont like seeing people in performance oriented cars driving them like they are camrys. Makes me shake my head and wonder why they whored themselves to the brand rather than buy a car that is more suitable to them.

Would you mind telling us how you really feel!

I don't think you will see any further discount. The price is great for the current car. Just saying that if you wanted to trade in a TL for an RL. This may be the best time to do so. The resell on the TL appears to be better than the RL currently.

I'd say take a test drive in a comparably priced 530i, if that's what she's interested in. Make it a thorough drive. Have her take a peak at everything...play with all the gadgets and gizmos and drive the vehicle with some spirit. Make sure she feels all of the materials and the way everything is put together. Further, make sure that she gets a good sense of the handling and power.
Then, take her to the Acura dealer on the same day and do the exact same thing with the RL. The BMW will drive better most certainly, but does not offer the same amount of power, nor the same amount of gadgets and gizmos at the same price point as the RL. The RL is an amazing experience and should prove to be quite rewarding when stacked against a comparably priced 530i.
To get a 530 at the same price as an RL, you'd only be able to spring for the Steptronic and the Premium Package, and that still goes over the RL's MSRP of $49k. With the 525, which seems to be painfully inadequate, you can get Steptronic, Premium, Sport, Cold Weather, and Xenon, but you are still no where near the equipment levels of the RL, and with the 525, you're no where near the power level. So quite honestly, the 525 is in a lower class than the RL.
Your wife needs to determine if the 530i is worth the sacrifice in equipment, if it is worth the extra money when equipped comparably, if she could settle for a 525i, or if the RL really is indeed the vehicle to go with. But be gentle when persuading...women always tend to go the opposite way you want them to.

Just thought of another option: a certified pre-owned 5er. That way, she could even get a 545i or an E38 M5 if she so desired Then, both of you win.
