Tire pressure sensor problem

I got a flat tire a few days ago and ended up having to replace my tire. I got all 4 brand new tires because it was recommended for even wear. When I took the car in I had to put the factory spare on which is the bright yellow /orange donut. When I put the donut on, the tire pressure sensor was showing two dash lines ( -- ) where the tire was replaced. After taking it to the mechanic shop they told me that two of the sensors failed and had to be replaced. Does this usually happen or did they break something and are trying to blame it on the new tires? I've never had a problem with it in the two years I've owned the car. It is a 2008 Acura RL

Sounds like to me the shop was after a quick buck. If it was only showing -- on only the side you had the spare tire on that would make sense since the tire was removed. However, you mentioned only ONE sensor was reading -- which indicates the rest were working fine, possibly even the one that read --.

Is there any way to prove they sabotaged it? When I showed up at the dealership the only sensor that was not reading was the spare. Then all of a sudden two Dont work...real suspicious

Did you question them about it? The could have damaged it in the removal process, or they could have made an honest mistake that lead them to believe they were bad.

There is nothing you can do now. You have two new sensors that work, so you should just enjoy them.
