Timing belt package

Ok... Have 72,000 miles on my 06' and just recently ran out of my 7/100,000 warranty.

Received a Acura coupon from my local (60 miles away) Acura dealer offering me a Timing belt package that includes: Replacement of timing belt, Water pump, Timing belt tensioner, Drive belts and coolant for $865.00. Good deal? Comes with a 12 month 12,00 mile warranty on parts

I kinda' feel that Ill keep her for another two or three years (or until it starts becoming a Maintenance issue). Been paid for for three years, so Im driving for free, and expect some normal predicted maintenance, especially if it is preventative.

I really LOVE this car. Was sort of tossing around trading it in and getting a MDX, but honestly ive never enjoyed a car as much as my RL. Also just got a set of General G maxes for it http://www.importtuner.com/tech/impp...al_tire_g_max/
so, Im somewhat invested in the car. Me doing the project is not an option - athough if I had a garage, and another driver, I'd do it ( I got a great set of tools ).

I understand that this "Timing" maintenance should normally be done at 110,000 miles, but that doesn't take into consideration of time/age.

Just wondering If this is worth entertaining now as far as cost goes and comfort of a Acura dealer doing it.

Thanks!

Not a bad deal. I paid a little less from a Honda dealer.

I'd have em visually inspect the belt and wait a little longer myself.

The price is good, I'd also get the water pump added to that list.

I'd be all over that deal. The Acura dealers here want $1200 for the same thing!

Yea. It includes water pump replacement.

I'll call tomorrow and make sure it includes labor. You know how car dealer/coupons work.

Isn't that about 30K miles too soon? I changed mine at 110k, and I got the old belt.(I marked it to make sure they didn't me a fake) and mine seemed fine...but 70k miles is way too soon. The price is great, if that includes all labor and parts.

Good price, but save the money and wait.

It's not early really, 7 years or 105k miles. Just should get it done this year.

Some people have said they saved money by taking it to a Honda dealer, where they too know how to work on the J Series V6 but the hourly rates are lower. Have you priced them?

OP - can you post the original coupon you indicated?
My local dealer is offering to match other dealers on service items but require a copy of actual offer. Not sure if it applies to out-of-town dealer but orlando isn't too far so i can at least ask. Let me know if you can post it. Thanks!

Sorry, man. I turned the coupon in when I got the work done Friday. He definatly took it as it had a free Timing belt tensioner on it and had the discounted price for the package. I initially didnt think it would matter if I brought the coupon in, but was kind of suprised when he entered the info on the coupon for billing/job info. There was some kind on number on it.

The coupon was from Acura like the ones they always send to you, that usually has oil changes, tire rotations etc and had my local dealer name on it. I assumed everyone got one. BTW I think it was to expire on 3/31.
Maybe someone else got one?

Sorry again.

Seems like a great price, really...and the 105K miles for timing belt is really also 7 years. You could probably go longer, but if you want to keep it for a few years, you might think about doing it now so that you don't worry about it. As you get closer to your 3 year mark, you may be more reluctant to put money into the car.

You may be in luck. I found a pic I took of the coupon on my phone as a backup. Just remembered it today. If you can use it, cool! Sorry about the orientation, I took it while I was in the car.
