Tell me more about the Audio

I was wondering and expect that you can load 6 discs of all MP3's into the system. How quickly can it shuffle through these and is there a random option? Does the title of the track and artist show up on the navigation screen? Can you flip past a song you do not want to hear with the steering wheel?

Answers are:

1. Load 6 discs - yes
2. Shuffle speed - not the fastest..I'm guessing about 5 secs to change discs (but don't quote me)
3. Random option - yes
4. Title and Artist - yes, if disc has CD text
5. Wheel skip tracks - yes

Addedum: but I don't think you can change to another CD with the wheel. At least I have not figured out how.

I have one Title and Artist CD (John Mayer - Heavy Things) and am excited about the cool display, but have not found out how to make my own. If someone wanted to post a detailed account on how to burn a CD or MP3 with Title/Artist/Songs it would be much appreciated!

You can copy a CD you own to a blank CD using Real Player 10's burn option. It has a setting for Artist, Album Name and Song title. You can change or alter the Album name, so if you have a compilation CD, you can actually give it a name. If you don't rename a compilation CD, it will show up as Compilation CD.

Real Player 10 is free and it works really well. You don't need the upgraded version that costs $$. On the other hand, Windows Media does not appear to have this feature.

All 6 of the CDs in my player are rerecorded CDs and display disc info. Good Luck and happy re-recording.

I-tunes

You can download Apple I-tunes even if you do not have an ipod (for free!). This would rip the tracks from your cd and create mp3's on your hard drive. Then when you have enough mp3's you can burn a mp3 disc that should hold the equivalent of about 10 normal CD's. I am curious if the display on the car shows all of the mp3 data on the nav screen.

Yes, if you have the CD text burn on the MP3 disc. The MP3 icon will show in the NAV and the names will be available in the NAV.

DVD MP3's

Is it possible to playback MP3's from a DVD? 4.7 Gigs times 6 discs? That would eliminate any need for an Ipod hookup as far as I am concerned.
