Tech Pkg Steering Wheel

Has anyone with the technology package purchased the wood and leather steering wheel? I notice that with the technology package there are additional buttons on the lower right spoke of the standard steering wheel. This would mean that Acura would need to keep two styles of steering wheels available in each offered color. I'm not sure how long the wait would be and 'if' the upgraded steering wheel is offered for the cars with the technology package. sdarryl

When the wheels are swapped out, the switches (as well as the airbag) from the factory wheel are moved to the new one, and the only thing that's replaced from the standard wheel is the rim and basket assembly.

Here's a post from someone who did it themselves -- search is your friend.

Thumbs up

Agree, we have the Tech Pkg and the wood steering wheel and all the features from the original wheel are on the new wood wheel.

Forgot to mention; the wait was about two days for the wood steering wheel.

Hello: have you notice wood color varaitions between wood steering wheel and the existing wood trims came with the car (RL)? I recently ordered RL wood steering wheel from one of Acura dealer. I sent it back - reason was wood color does not match. Wood steering wheel was darker and existing one was lighter. Thanks - art

The match between the "wood" wheel and the wood on the dashboard was pretty good on ours.

May I know where did you get the wood wheel at? Did you add this on after you bought it? Thanks - art

I added the simulated wood wheel and shift knob at the dealer. Got a very good match. Looks great with the ebony interior. Far better style/contours for me than the smoothe leather.

Same for ours; got the wood wheel and wood shift knob through the dealer. Ours is a parchment interior and it looks great with that as well.

I test drove one two days ago and the grain and color were different; it was darker on the steering wheel.
