Taking a leap of faith
Hey everyone,
I just bought a 08 Rl with, (gulp), 210K, someone drove the hell out of this thing. I had to put about 2K in it for timing belt, brakes, etc. Compared to the book I got it pretty cheap. I have never owned a car over 120K so this is something new for me. It's very clean and if you didn't see the odometer you would never know it had that many miles on it. I only bought it because I am trying to pay off bills and I don't want a car payment. I am hoping to get 3-4 years out of it until I can get something else.
I have seen some posts with super high miles on RL so I felt like it was a an ok gamble but time will tell!

As long as she is maintained, she will last a long, long time.
My 2006 RL has 308,000KM (I live in Canada) which would be roughly (191000miles). We have hard winters here and this car still drives like new and is phenominal in the snow.
I would suggest getting the differential fluids changed and maybe the transmission fluid as well - this way you know that the Timing belt is done, breaks and all fluids.
Welcome to the club sir....welcome.

I sold my 2007 RL three years ago with 170,000 absolute trouble free miles. A Honda mechanic bought in three minutes. My 2010 has 80,000 trouble free miles. As stated change the fluids as the computer states and you should enjoy for many years.

No, I didnt do it myself. I took it to a local Honda mechanic and they did it. I dont trust myself for major repairs. I could have done the breaks myself but they made a good offer so I saved myself the time and my garage isnt heated. I would hope that you would have done the timing belt by now, its due around 105K.

Maintain her and she should do well, even with that mileage. Last week I saw a 2010 ZDX with 170k miles for $13.9. It was in clean condition even with the mileage. I was disappointed to find how close the headroom was for me even in the front seat, I had to lean the seat back a bit more than normal just to have clearance.

I bought my RL when it had 114xxx from the Acura dealership and they said the timing belt was good to go. I should've asked if the job was done or not. I can't find any records of it being completed by checking the VIN. I'll have to take it the car to a dealership come Spring and have them take a look at it. I'm hoping the previous owner done it. Thanks for the info!
