Taken MY RL to 140MPH
I just came back from a trip to City of Erie, pennsylvania and i have this to share with you.
First of, i've always wanted to test my RL at high speeds and see how it feels or at least handels, so i though why not over 100mph (my average daily speed is 35mph).
I live in Alexandria, Va and the distance from my house to the destination in Erie was about 350m, which takes about 6 hours and 20 minutes.
Well, to keep this short, the RL at 140 mph felt like 80 mph.
There was no vibrations, no feeling of insecurity, and what was more amazing was handelling at that speed, as highway 78 streches for over 130 miles of if i'm not mistaken.
The road was really clear and most of what was on the road was trucks and highway patrol! And by the way, i got a summon for doing 113mph.
I hope that this wont start any debates about carelessness and recklessness because normally i take my car to a track and let out my need for speed, and i've taken excessive offensive and defensive driving courses.
Again, my point is the car if perfect and feels great at high speeds, and i'm NOT encouraging anybody to try it, but if your up to it, then .....

Kinda reckless, but what a rush!
I have to admit that I too have pushed the envelope. In driving home from NC yesterday, I mashed the pedal. I got to 120 and decided to bring "her back to reality."
There wasn't a car in sight, and I-40 west was exmpty and 70 degrees!
I do not speed often. Especially this kind of speeding. I have to agree that the RL feels VERY solid at higher speeds.
My $0.02
CGTSX2004: You might try traveling north-bound on I-270... you will see me and one other person for sure, LarryKa.

I got a prepayable fine.
Again, i don't want anybody to think that i'm a reckless driver, because i'm a driver that you'll probably pass by on the road because i simply like to cruise, not race.
I'm sure its a one time rush that wont occur at least in the soon future.

You'll get no argument from me. I haven't taken her past 80mph, but that's only because I generally drive the same 50 miles roundtrip every day and it's pretty congested. Good to hear the RL is so stable at those speeds. I'll have to try it on my next road trip.

I agree, the RL definitely feels stable at high speeds. I have taken mine up to around 100 on the exit from the outer loop of 495 to the Clara Barton expressway in the DC area when the coast was clear. The car actually sounds quieter to me at those speeds as well.
Just an aside, I was doing around 80 MPH heading north on I-270 last week, and a I spotted a MD state trooper in my rear view pretty far back. I moved over a lane behind a cousin of ours, an MDX, doing around 60 and stayed there. The trooper decided to pull in behind me and ride my tail for a little while. Then he pulled up parallel to the left side of me, then dropped back and pulled up parallel to the right side of me. He finally exited to the local lanes after another minute or so. I don't know if he was trying to spook me, or if he was just checking out the car. I noticed he looked over his shoulder a couple of times as he was pulling away

I had to drop my RL off at the dealer in N.C. (I noticed my windshield washer fluid wasn't coming out when pressed). You should have seen some of the looks I got as I drove into Wilmington with the windows down and the sun-roof back. I get quite a few looks from the local police in Rockville too. I think that they are assuming that I am out in my fathers car for a joy-ride
The RL's do get some stares though; cops and other interested folk alike.

This is why I can't wait to get the RL (legend europe) here. But I don't want a 5 speed auto, so I'm going to wait. There are no speed limits in some long streches, thought the recomemded speed is 85 mph. How sweet !!! Got to love germany for that.

Have you done anything to eliminate the governor limiting device (set at 134 mph) that was reported by Car and Driver magazine and what gear did you find better at the top speed (4th or 5th)?

Hey Qatar, I'm happy to read you're enjoying your RL. It's good to know that it's stable at that speed, though I'd never do that myself. Don't you carry a V1 to avoid tickets?

I've gone few times around 125 mph with my RL and car almost feels like it can give power at will. Car feels extremely solid and stable. Does not feel at all like I am going 125mph.

140. Nice. Fastest I went in my 350Z was 130. Same in the FX45. Same in the Q45. TSX took it to 120.
When I get my Valentine 1, I'll try to hit the governor in the Z, then get the chip mod to remove speed limit and increase fuel cut to 7200 rpm and try again.
Congrats on the RL btw. I'm considering buying it.
I really don't like the knob and the screen so far in the front though. So much nicer in the TL and TSX. 9" touch.
