Suggestions on Tint %
I Have Premium Pearl Rl with Parchment interior. I live in IL where tint laws do not allow front windows to be tinted. However, I can not spoil the look of my RL with just having back windows tinted. I want to tint my car all around but I don't want to draw attention with a dark look. What % do you think would look good with my car? Plus anyone have pics of same color car with same interior?

This is an expensive solution, only because I did not spend much time on this. But the fade look may be the way to go. The ceramic film is expensive, but it does not look like film, and it is not metalized which blocks radio and nav signals.
Go with the 60% on the front doors, 40% on rear doors, and 30% on back window.
Other lines may offer a UV/Heat Rejection tint with 80%.
If you feel you have to ignore the state motor vehicle laws, then the idea is to make it look as if you are complying with the law by only tinting the rear doors and windows. You still get the UV protection and some heat rejection, plus the safety aspect if the window is shattered.

Thanks, I was never a fan of the fade look. I do not use my RL as my everyday ride, so do not mind taking the chance on testing the tint laws. I was contemplating on going 50% all around

If it were me (and if the police in your area arent that agressive with tint laws) I would go with at least 35% -- for both front and back side windows.. especially since you have the lighter interior. With 50% you really cant tell any difference.. and with the 35% its not that dark and you should be able to see fine at night.
and if you leave your sunshade open, it will really help with hiding the fact that you have tint..
if you want tint examples -- check the 3rd gen TL forums .. they have alot of pics there

40% Huper Optik (cheramic), parchment interior.
Cops don't bother you and it blocks a great deal of heat. Night visibility is excellent as well.

Damn, I cant imagine not having dark tinted windows. Im not talking about the look, Im talking temp/coolness in the sun.
How do they look at night? Darker than the norm?

It all boils down to of how dark you really want the tint to be but you have to remember to not be on the Police's radar if you do go illegal and all officers are not the same. There are some who are out to get you and some who really understand the modding business of fixing one's car.

gosh, what is the deal with law and tint.... tinted windows have alot of benefits.... it's energy saving, heat reduction, glare reduction, safety (harder for opportunist to see the valuable stuff in your car), preserve interior, enhance look, etc.... the list goes on and on.... as long as it's not obstructing vision (i.e. 5% all around or some thing rediculous that you have to use the 'force' to drive the car), I don't see any legit reasons the law give anyone a hard time for this.... I say go with 35%, if the cops got nothing better to do but give people hard time on tint.... even if that's the case, you should roll down your windows (all of them) if u should get pull over (i don't think they'll tell u to roll the windows back up).... just to show u the difference, i used to have 35% on my TL.... too light for FL sun... had to change it into 20%.... now my RL is 20% also
35%
20%
RL without tint
RL with 20%

I totally agree with you about the law getting in your business because of the tint of your vehicle. In my state, Nevada, most of the State Troopers vehicles have really dark tint all around except the windshield. The tint can be seen as darker than the legal limit. But most of them where I live at won't push the issue of the tint because they understand the benifits of tinting your own vehicle.

I ended up going with ceramic 40% all around. I went light to avoid problems with jake. It is not as dark as I would like, but it looks classy and with the possible new tint law in Illinois, I will be legal(38% all around)

that's Daaaaaaark...... can you see at night? my 20% all around is plenty dark at night.... good thing I have a backup camera.... I guess your auto dim mirror will never kick in with limo tint I think the dark rear makes the inside darker.... and in return, the lighter front tint appears darker.....

its dark inside the car. i like that. the dome lights looks nicer inside. you know the blue lights. and you are right the auto dim doesn't kick on. but thats cool too. but overall its an awesome look inside and out. i enjoy the ride. i have no issues.
at night when i am reversing its a little harder but i can manage. i haven't hit nothing yet. lol

the HID kits I got were off ebay for bout $55 shipped, low beam bulbs were like $25 shipped.
I'm running 6k fog, 8k low, 10k high.
In the fog you need more light...low beam needs to have a little color to it. And high beam is mostly to get people out of the way...so they don't need to be as bright at the others.
