Be prepared for new tires and brakes once it's over but should be fun.

nice, RL on a track

I wish the windows were closed, we'd actually hear engine noise instead of wind.

Also...I bet that was slowing you down too.

Are the turns really so bad that you have to use two hands? I thought the power steering in the RL was pretty generous.

I did notice that the stability controlled kicked in once or twice to save ya!

thanks for posting the video

Windows had to be left open for safety reasons at this track.

There was one turn where i had to put 2 hands on the wheel everytime. It was a difficult cause it was a complete U turn , and keeping the speed on the car wanted to fight it and go outward.

yah VSA did keep me on the track a few times..first time at the track

What kind of tires were you running?

Well since i was selling the car i bought some continental extreme contact tires from discount tires.

I loved every moment of it. For a while i was scared to hurt my car to continuously go around the track so I didn't go all out
and my brakes were pretty crappy i had only just put new pads and those got chewed up really fast and then they came loose so when i slammed the brakes the wheel was vibrating a lot.

Then the computer wouldnt down shift from 3>2 when i wanted it to, so i had to keep pushing it down and when I got slow enough it took it. That definitely slowed me down. Couldnt do anything about it.
All in all it was a great thing to try and now that i have the TSX ill go back with more confidence and a smaller car should be even more exciting.

Nice video, but I am surprised you were out there by yourself. I see a few problems here.

1) You are not just cruising around, never only have one hand on the steering wheel, you must have both hands on the steering wheel, 10 and 2 positions at all times unless you are shifting then you take one off for a second..

2) Use your paddle shifters, that is what they are there for so you keep both your hands on the wheel

3) Never take off your headrest. If you got in a accident on the track, your neck would snap.

4) Your lines were pretty bad, and this is where a instructor would help you. You will get better.

Work on those, and you will become a good driver.

Unless it's raining, windows are required to be down on the track.

Didnt even think about the headrest thing, you make a good point here.
I took it off cause it hit my helmet and i couldnt look up correctly.

haha my lines were HORRIBLE! Im not sure if this place had instructors..i could be mistaken but they just gave us general information about the flags and windows down and 3 times off the track you're done for the day.

I wasn't going nearly fast enough to do anything wreckless. I drove the car with in my limits.

all and all it was just for fun but thanks for the advice.

This is not directed at you personally DN...It is unbelievable that someone who has never been on the track before is allowed to drive like that without an instructor. You NEED an instructor, both to teach you the lines, inform you about safety, learn what the flags mean, how to pass, let someone pass etc. Please tell us what track and what club that is so we all know to never to use them. As noted, two hands on the wheel at all times, those papers in the back seat should have been in the glove box. Didn't appear that there was anyone on the track with you, only saw one other car.

At my club/track, you would never be allowed on the track like that. Windows open at all times, rain or shine, sunroof closed! All cars are required to undergo a tech inspection before the event and the day of the event. Brakes and tires are checked, no leaks, etc.

Headrests on, hard to believe they let you go on the track like that, your dead if you get into an accident as it's the back whiplash of the neck that kills you, not the initial forward movement impact.

BTW, how fast did you get the car up on the straights? didn't look like you were going that fast.

Yah im not taking any of this personally. I used common sense and drove the car to my limit.
You guys did make a good point about the headrest and next time it will stay on.
We learned the flags. And the passing system was only on straights and you would point which way for the car to pass you.
There were 3 cars on the track at one time.
Got the car up to 95 on the back straight and about 80-90 on the front straight.

Honestly it was a good experience regardless of an instructor being in the car to teach you the lines.
We went to Little Talladega GP. This shouldn't keep you from coming to this track if that ever occurred.
I guess it all depends on how you drive and the people around you. We all put safety first and did not drive recklessly and respected each others cars on the track.
All most everyone there had been to this track multiple times except for me.

Like I said I had a lot of fun. thanks for the advice, and everything turned out well
