I have started getting this alert. Have a 2008 Tech with 5,500 miles and 15% oil life remaining. Should I take it in for service now or wait until the oil life drops to 5% or so?

I had an '05 and always waited until it was at about 5%. Never had any repercussions from waiting. With the exorbitant fees my local dealer charges for service, I made sure to max out my miles as much as possible.

I usually book an appointment when it has been at 10% for a couple of days.. That way when I get it in for service it is at 5%. Once I couldn't get the car in on time and after 0% it started counting in negative miles ... made me feel quite guilty...

I think it is a recommendation.. not like your car is going to fall apart if you go over.. You just get a nice message saying 1,2,100, 200 miles past service...
