RL vs TL w/SH-AWD
Anyone know of direct comparison reviews or, personal experience between these two?
Handling
Pick-up
Ride
Ease of controls
We've been very happy with the TL the past 2 1/2yrs even comparing to the MB E350 4matic it replaced, especially at $15K less than the MB.
A '10 or '11 RL is number one on my shortlist despite some of the less than "cutting edge" features i.e., pushbutton start, GPS, etc.
I had test driven the RL back when and nothing seemed particularly notable.
I am considering buying the TL at end of lease but, think the RL might be a better fit.

+1 on preference. I do like the TL's pick up, but I think that's due to the 6at gearing and lighter weight. But I love RL's quiet interior and attention to detail and quality.
But I think it's hard to compare a base that was made 7-8 years ago with something made in the last 3 years.
Of course RL is now discontinued until the RLX comes out. Prob the RLX would be really nice in all conditions.

"Push to start"
There are at least two members here who have gone straight from an RL to a TL SH-AWD. 23109VC is one and I will have to look up the other.

Here you go. I almost forgot Zelaya who owns both.

Safety Car
No kidding. I love the dummy key knob on the RL. It is a brilliant design. The push button start is aggravating for at least two reasons:
1) After parking the car, you want to turn off the engine but keep the electrical system on (music, bluetooth call, want to roll down the windows, etc). You can do that with a key or the key knob. You can't do this with a push button. You need to turn off the car then tap the button again.
2) In an emergency panic situation, manufacturers have different ways of turning off the car with the push button. Some require you to hit the button multiple times. Others require you to press and hold for a while. Nobody needs to figure out how to use a key or a key knob.
