RL Sightings Thread

Since this doesn't appear to have been started, I thought this might be a good time to start one.

There's a Black RL parked in the garage of the Rosslyn Spectrum buildings. Does that happen to be one of you RL owners here?

phile 02-23-2005 04:23 PM

Not the same title, but we have one already.

My black RL isn't parked in Rossyln, but it is driven and parked in Georgetown frequently. I did see a black RL at Sweet Water Tavern in Centreville, VA on 2/13 with VA plates though...

I have also seen an '05 Carbon Gray (I think) RL with the gold package in Georgetown, as well as an '05 red RL on the Clara Barton Parkway.

This one will be easier to spot. Whoever is in charge here can move or merge the threads as they see fit.

I'll keep an eye out for you next time I'm in Georgetown.

Sightings

I must say that it may have taken 5 years but I am finally seeing a 2nd generation RL on a regular basis. Up until recently, I would hardly ever see any RLs but I have noticed nowadays that I see 1 everytime that I am on the road. Sales may have been slow but I guess after all of these years, there are enough out there to be seen on a regular basis.

HEAVY_RL 08-05-2009 07:58 AM

I see a white 2g on 288 every morning and there is a carbon pearl in Short Pump around the mall.

The "3.5RL" title threw me off so I didnt post up 2g sightings.

lumpulus 08-05-2009 08:31 AM

I see RLs every day, but then again I work less than a mile from a dealership. ;)

470hpGS400 08-06-2009 12:41 AM

99.9999% of the RL's I have seen have been driven by older 60+ yo men.
Doubt many of you are on here. ;)

neuronbob 08-07-2009 07:55 PM

I saw a NBP RL on I-77 as I drove north into Cleveland this AM. 2G RLs are surprisingly still rare here, five years after their introduction.

037 08-09-2009 12:24 AM

people still think that all wheel drive improves their handling so they don't give RL enough respect.

TSX69 08-13-2009 08:04 PM

Woo Hoo

I just saw a 2009/2010 black RL on the road. This will only be my 3rd 2nd generation MMC I have seen but it looked very nice & definitely had road presence.

It was driven my an older male in a shirt & tie.

On the downside, as it came @ me on the opposite of the road I could not figure out if it was a TL, RL or TSX until it came near. The Power Plenum, however, is easy to distinguish from a far.

Rhlieu 08-13-2009 08:17 PM

^^^

I think you just sum up the 09 RL in a nutshell!

neuronbob 08-13-2009 08:44 PM

I have never seen a 2009 RL except at the dealership. :dunno:

Lots of 2009 TLs, though. :ugh:

Next time I am in Cleveland I will PM you and you can pop your cherry. I'll race you!! I'll lose, but we'll get on 90/2 and hit dead man's curve at 60 MPH, we'll see who wins (did that by the way, a little scary, but the RL handled it nicely).

neuronbob 08-14-2009 07:28 PM

I made an error. Actually, I saw Leo's (037) 2009 RL when HE drove through Cleveland two weeks prior to my purchasing the V. I hadn't decided to pull the trigger at that point.

Cleveland RL mini-meet 3/8/09

You are welcome to come by, though, BigKat :D :drag: . The V does pretty well in the curves thanks to Magnetic Ride Control. WOW. I'm too chicken to do 60 around Dead Man's Curve, though.

I had the distinct pleasure of seeing TWO RLs today. The first was a celestial silver on my way north on I-77 into the city, and the other was on a NBP on my way home on I-480 today. On the silver, I was particularly enamored of the underside aerodynamic wings for some reason, they were pretty clearly visible.

BigKat103 08-14-2009 07:39 PM

Sounds good Bob. Yes, DMC was a little nerve racking, but I knew I could do it. I started into it slow at about 40 MPH, then hit the gas as I came around. I didn't have any cars in front of me, otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

I saw a PFM '09 today, the guy driving was at least 65. Also saw a NBP at a stop light. The PFM made 4 other '09s I have seen in Pittsburgh (2 AWP, 1 CBP and the PFM) with many, many other '05 to '08s here.

MIKEYDRED 08-14-2009 08:30 PM

Here in Boston I see the 2nd generation pre update atleast everyday a couple of them almost makes me wonder why the statistics show they are not selling and the update looks great in person however I opted for the TL since it's technology was more up to date, can't go wrong with the RL though Acura needs to advertise it more:2cents:

Bob, I'm sure you can do DMC at 70 if you could just slide your car through it sideways while burning all sorts of rubber :)

neuronbob 08-14-2009 09:10 PM

^^^^^
American Drifto-king! LOL!

MIKEY, the RL sold pretty well in snow country, I would think.

037 08-14-2009 09:15 PM

for those who know NY well. I was entering FDR North from BK bridge and took the turn doing 60 with the slightest whine from my Pilot Sport A/S. I think that turn is marked 20mph and my 06 TL couldn't do it beyond 50.

Got photos of that DMC? I'm willing to go test it out :)

Found a vid on Youube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaXMjg8hO1s

It is a 90 degree turn, that video doesn't do it justice, but I am sure the turn you refer to in NY is rougher. You hit the curve in the vid at about 2:40 minutes.

037 08-14-2009 09:38 PM

um...4 lanes...I'm sorry but it's time for me to look up what I'm talking about...

037 08-14-2009 09:52 PM

there are 2 lanes and they are pretty narrow

https://acurazine.com/forums/picture...ictureid=18850

037 08-14-2009 09:57 PM

that DMC looks nice for sliding a car around with SH-AWD, we should all get together and do it sometime...

Dibs on the V :)

BigKat103 08-14-2009 10:00 PM

That looks like fun. DMC is very wide, still sharp, but nothing compared to that. You got balls my friend.

um...balls won't get you through that turn :tomato:

I would pretty much give credit to the Pilot's and SH-AWD.

neuronbob 09-01-2009 09:48 AM

I saw my first 2009 RL in the wild!

I was driving toward downtown Cleveland on I-77 on Sunday when I came upon a red 2009 RL. It had the side window vents as well. The car really does look good from the rear and sides, very aggressive. The front I have learned to accept.

If this was you, post up if you see this!

RL Sightings

Hard to believe! Yesterday on I-40 near Greensboro, NC, I passed two RLs side by side. Three RLs within 10 feet of each other.

neuronbob 09-01-2009 02:57 PM

^^^^
They had to be forum members. Had to be. Two RLs in the same place=meet.

ronaldell 09-01-2009 02:58 PM

It took almost 1 week to see an RL on the road. The funny thing... When I did, it was identical to the car I was driving (2005 RL)

Rhlieu 09-01-2009 05:35 PM

^^^

How can you tell if it was a 05 - 08???

Ballinger 09-01-2009 07:03 PM

I see a white RL, a dark gray and a black RL on my way to work occasionally, and I see the white one downtown since we take the same exit. There's a black one parked about a half mile away sometimes. The other night, I went to dinner and as I got out of my car, I realized I'd parked next to another Lakeshore silver/grey RL, taupe interior, etc... but no woody wheel or 396hp Hello Kitty exhaust tip. Our seating allowed me to see the cars, and I was interested to see what kind of old, dusty fat fella was driving the other car, but it was still there when we left.

Exhaust tips? But that's kinda hard to tell at a glance I guess.
