The 06 RL even made best 1% of that years models. The car continues to impress even after 2 years of ownership.
Good find on that article.

One of the reasons we've got this '06 RL is that our '91 Legend underwent "severe modification" in a wreck that my wife nonetheless walked away from. I began searching out cars with high safety ratings and came across the evolution of our Legend...

RL ftw

The primary reason for my purchase of the RL were the safety ratings. Climbing underneath the front structure I am awed at the reinforcements that are very beefy, unlike any other car I have owned.

No wonder it's such a porker...

BMWs sell fine with 3 star driver hit rating...

RL Safety

I have the CMBS system in my '06 RL. I drive a minimum of 40k miles a year around the Washington DC Beltway. Last November on the way home from a long trip at rush hour in Metro DC, the CMBS saved me from a major crash. The vehicle's CMBS sensed that I, the driver, was not reacting to a sudden stop in traffic right in front of me on a major highway. The system deployed full braking and seat belt retraction. It all happened so suddenly and much to my pleasant surprise and shock, I did not rear-end the van in front of me. I am "sold" on this system.

5 years after Acura introduces their system with very little marketing or fanfare, Volvo introduces the same system as if they invented it.

As most of us Honda/Acura owner's know, we are driving the safest cars in the world even though the manufacturer is a bit too humble in their marketing efforts relative to this.
