RL Paint Process/Technique

Gents,

There was a thread in this forum I learned about the process Acura/Honda introduced with I think the 2nd Gen on painting process for the RL. I searched but apparently cant find the right keywords. Someone posted I thought an excerpt from a marketing brochure that stated the process which was quite impressive IIRC. Anyone provide some help with finding that post and linking it? It would be greatly appreciated.

Well thought I found it but turns out it was more generic on process. Still looking for help

is this the particular thread you were looking for? The 2ND Gen RL is one of the last few quality boats to come out of Japan imo, despite all my small issues with it.

Thanks projekt but no. Thats the thread I was referring to that I thought I found. It was in response to a reply I made to a thread I thought but couldnt find it that way either by searching on my posts.

Ill keep looking its not urgent but by facts were being questioned by someone and Im looking to backup my claim.

Found the marketing package that Honda used for the RL. Page 14 has the part where the paint is hand-sanded.

Yup, the RL came from the factory with its clear coat lightly wet sanded to make it look even smoother. I don't believe they removed all the clear coat orange peel, but they definitely reduced it.

A very cool touch to that car.

Thanks your the best. That is what I was referring to and so much more info than I knew for sure. Amazing all the technology and planning that went into these things doesnt seem like it was truly capitalized on by dealers or appreciated by consumers. Oh well makes for a great used car IMHO.
