...RL owner test driving RLX, question...
What happens when an owner of the RL (2nd gen) goes for RLX test drive.... i think in my example it is very simple: HATES IT!!!
am i the only one here, or there are more people that test drove the RLX after owning or driving RL and hated it?!
i am really dissapointed of how much of a bad experience in every shape and form I had... too loud, massive, slow, no acceleration, I mean, you name it... only thing one could like is design perhaps, front and sides... I liked the size of the car but that's about it... very glad to sit back into my RL and drive off...
was not trying to trade mine, just went for test drive...
what ar your pennies ppl?

RLX isn't a huge improvement in term performance since nothing much as change except for being roomier, engine got 10 hp bump but along with a weight increase. The AT is outdated for its class, PAWS is terrible and some time I wish Honda made a button so it can be turn off. However if you opt for the Sport SH-AWD things might be different since it get electric motor to get that instant torque along with quick shifting 7 spd DTC and the car 0-60 mph around 5 sec this pretty dam good for a V6 heavy sedan car. My RL previous owner now drive a 2017 Sport Hybrid RLX and he said in some sense the RL actually offer more road feel to the driver.

You definitely didn't drive a Sport Hybrid. From what I've read on here the car is an animal in Sport mode..
Looks wise, it's still growing on me buy I'm hard pressed to be swayed over our Aspec kit..

I didn't find myself in total control of the car. The steering is electronic.

Yes, this was FWD (paws) model, as Sport Shawd hybrid is out of my budget range. Honestly for that pricing there are different models I would consider before RLX even hybrid...
But even for fwd rlx, heavily disappointed... most probably that I have no clue what will be available when it's time to replace my 06 RL :'/ ... Plan is next 3-4-5yrs, so hoping that TLX 2019 returns on old TL platform if nothing better happens along the line

I know, sigh... that ugly truth... I almost feel sense of betrayal of Acura towards loyal customers. Joint cry may start now - eh, we will survive somehow lol

well on the bright side, the next gen Accord V6 got drop and looks like they will come with a Turbo 4 cyl. The 2018 TLX Aspec isn't sporty as TL-S but they are moving in the right direction.

I drove the Sport Hybrid last year. Three words: Was not impressed. Even in Sport mode.
The 1G RL was something notable to me. Many Legend owners will argue otherwise, but those were my thoughts. The 2G RL outdid itself and was ahead of it's time. In my mind, what the RLX Sport Hybrid lacks is the twin turbo. If they had done that, maybe I would have been more impressed, and that would have maybe hit an ahead of it's time milestone. How many twin turbo hybrid systems are their out there? That would have been cool. I mean, it's 2017. We have a turbocharged Civic and a turbocharged NSX. Why for the love of god could Acura not turbo their luxo boat is beyond me....
I've honestly had my eye on the TLX A-Spec or the TLX GT. It definitely seems they are moving those cars in the right direction. I genuinely hope they move the MMC RLX in the right direction...

^^^^ The problem with Acura product is they tend to never follow up with customer, sure the KB1 was ahead of competition but other car manufacture quickly realize the car and release new product that match or even surpass the RL. I remembered in HS year around 04-05 Acura TL was a hot seller, I saw several of my neighbor trade in their RWD BMW 3 series and Mercedes E class for a sporty looking TL. The 05 TL Aspec with navi MT was selling like hot cake, but in 2006 BMW fight back with 335i and 2nd gen IS350 also more powerful than the TL and more options was offered. 2007 with the come back of the TL Type S they win back some buyer but its still under power when compare to other 3.5 motor also they had the out dated 5spd AT (they should come out with the 6spd AT for the 07 and up Acura V6 model), in 2009-2014 they went to sleep mode leaving the market for Audi, BMW, Lexus and Infiniti to dominate.
I remembered a sale guy at my local Acura trying to get me buy a 2012 TL advance pkg, he gave me a list of ventilated seat, powerful motor an so on. I told him how is it advance option where you can get as standard option on a 06 IS250? 3.7 motor can't even keep up with lexus IS350 3.5 and oh take Acura to 2011-2012 realize the 6spd AT (new to Acura) also getting dated since the competition already moved to 7 or 9 spd.
Back with the KB1 status, they did try to bring the sale back with the KB2 however again that 5spd slush box and that childish navi graphic is so painful to watch for a $50-$60k car.

I'll be buying a 2012, taking out the battery and wrapping it in plastic till my 09 decides to kick me out a very long time from now.
Maybe two.
