This guy did 930,000 on original motor and used regular oil. Don't waste your money unless you race or have a turbo or supercharger.

My brother-in-law had a family emergency and drove from Palm Beach, FL to NYC, New York, rather than fly. JetBlue would have been cheaper but since he has a fear of flying, hence the drive.

Agreed, there is no doubt that you don't need mobil1, however, there is also no doubt that mobil one is a much better lubricant. If the cost is not going to break your bank (you did pay 50K for a car) why not put the best "juice" in it. Given that I drive agressively, its additional "peace of mind".

The "secret" to getting these insane milages out of your car is always CHANGE the oil, even more than the book say to do it. I have a '96 Saturn SL that I don't drive much anymore, and it's now at 323,000 and that is with the original motor and transmission. I have the oil changed every 3-4k, weather it needs it, or not.

Did the post change? All I see where he references oil is
Castrol does make fully synthetic oil. Plus driving mostly highway has the least wear and tear on an engine. Unless you live near me, where highway is stop and go traffic. That's when synthetics shows it muscles.
Either case, that's some impressive numbers and it's still photogenic. I'm surprised that Honda did not offer a buy back on the car.
I SPOIL MY BABY AND CHANGE THE OIL ( CASTROL ) EVERY 2500 MILES ! ! !

Won't hurt though by using that over kill oil, early changes are best.

Highway driving is what lets you rack-up large miles on a car with less wear. Not only to you put lots of mileage with little work by the engine (and transmission), but you also burn-off all of the impurities (water, etc.) in the oil so those miles are without wear.
If you get the oil temperature up high once a week or so, your oil can go a lot longer between changes. It's the short trips that kill the oil more than anything else.
