Are recent RL builds (VINs >12,000) bug free?

I'm anxiously awaiting this weekend to get a Nighthawk Black/Parchment RL. I've seen the inventories on some lots and their are some RL's with VIN's in the 12,000 thru 20,000.

Has anybody recently purchased an RL with a high VIN number and had the current "bugs" (XM delay, brake caliper issue, door locks, etc..)

Just curious.

Static,
Why not go for a very late build. 18000's through 20000's are out there!
They have not been sitting in the lots long at all, grab one!

To help U out with VIN's & build dates:
10400=1/05
12300=2/05
13800=3/05
15300=5/05 (?)

I had my eye on a 21000 VIN RL until I jumped to the M35x.

gbriank is correct!.....AHFC offering 2.9% labor Day special!

I just purchased my RL and saw your post. I picked it up from my local dealer about 3 weeks ago. The last digits on the VIN are 020397 and I think the actual build was in May/June (I'd have to double check the inside door area--I think that's where I saw that stat.).

Let me know if this "qualifies" as a newer build to compare its operations and issues with those of the earlier builds.

Here are the issues that I've had so far (that I know about):
1. The passenger window would not roll down and the seat memory would not work at all. Took it in, two days later, the part showed up, they replaced it and all is perfect again.
2. Day #2 of ownership, took my car to get windows tinted to a company that I always use. Went to pick up the vehicle and the car was dead. 99% sure it was the trunk button issue being pressed when the engine was off--so they could air out the fumes from the window tint.

Can somebody enumerate the issues that you'd like me to check...and how you want me to test them and I can tell you if they exist in my vehicle. Thanks

Here is an issue that some here have. My Acura dealer says it's normal and all RLs do it.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=900

My 20XXX VIN also has the XM Delay and the front brake clunk (which is pretty random).

Thanks everybody. I will update the forums with my weekend visit to the Acura dealer. Hopefully I will have an RL. Enjoy the Labor Day Weekend.

Yep! Thats a super late 05 RL VIN.
It seems the #'s go up to 21xxx.

Please check the build date on the door again. Curious about the build month.

Mine's 19620. I've experienced the XM issue, and a few squeaks and rattles. My AFS has been acting up and the brakes squeal at low speeds. I've got an appt at Acura in two weeks to see if they can remedy these nuances.

There arent any issues with my car that make me upset or wish that I hadnt purchased it. This car has lived up to every one of my expectations and then some.

Vin # 14 and change. Only problem is moon roof rattles. Have an appointment tomorrow with Acura. Very, very happy with my car. Will probably upgrade the tires before winter.

VIN #14.....must be the lowest VIN we will ever see here!

I bet those early VIN RL's were built under close scrutiny, and that the line was much slower until they ramped up to full speed.

#14 must have gotten alot of attention during its build cycle.....must have been the first day of the start of production!

Just guessing, but I believe PeterL1 meant either 14 thousand and change or 14 hundred and change. All of the really early VIN numbers would have been for preordered RL's that were delivered in November 04.

My 20397 has a manufactured date of 05/05. Tried the 3rd gear manual RPM thing today, but I didnt floor it after holding it at 4000 rpm. I will try it tomorrow and let you know.

If anybody else wants me to check out anything on my later VIN RL just post.

My VIN 2095"X" has a date of 05/05 as well. Any body else? Is this possible, your 20397 has the same month and day?

I picked up my Nighthawk Black/Parchment RL last Saturday. VIN 19852. Door plaque says build date 05/05. After a week of pure driving pleasure, I haven't notice any major issues with the car, except for the occasional XM delay glitch mentioned here. If that's my worst problem during ownership, I'll be a happy camper.
