Rear sunshade- Warranty
Rear sunshade- Warranty
So my rear sunshade is not working properly and gets stuck halfway up. According to Acura of Westchester its going to need a new motor and it will cost about $550..
Last year I bought a extended warranty from them, which I am still covered for, but the dealership told me Acura will not cover the motor for the shade. I could have sworn when I bought the extended warranty they said it was covered. Also, when looking at the paperwork for the warranty one of the things that is covered is "Computers/Electronics:including switches, sensors. SRS control unit".
When I asked the guy why the sunshade is not covered he said he didnt know but it might have to do with it being part of the interior trim. He said I would have to take it up with Acura. I told him I see no difference between the rear sunshade and any of the windows. You push a button for that object (window or shade) to go up and down and if it doesnt work then its a problem with the sensor or the motor moving that object. I bring this up becuase I was told the window motor is covered under the warranty. I could understand if it was a wear and tear item or interior lightbulbs but you would think a motor on a sunshade should be covered.
So my question is, has anyone had a rear sunshade fixed under warranty?

2 Check the warranty, is the rear sunshade a line item exemption? If not then it's covered. A motor is NOT interior trim.
3 Try the nice approach first, courtesy fix mat come your way.
