Rear license plate holder

Do all Acura's only have (2) bolts to mount the rear license plate? This is one of those nit picking issues that bothers me because the license has these two empty slots on the bottom and it looks shabby to me.

I found an old thread where someone had a link to a recommended plate holder but the link is no longer active.

Any recommendations on plate holders before I search the internet? BTW, can't have anything tinted, tried that once (front plate only) with my S4 and got bagged by a state trooper and had to remove it while he watched

Thanks

Robersan,

I have a great WeatherTech frame that has a plastic cover over the plate. It actually has a gasket that seals the plate between the frame and the outer clear cover. Then there are plastic srew hole covers for all four screw holes in the frame so it matters not whether you use the upper or lower mounting screws. It gives a nice finished look. The frame also comes in various colors and trim insets. Mine is black with a chrome inset that dressed up the tail of the RL a bit. Google them and you can see what I mean.

To take it a step futher, I mounted a piece of foam behind the plate so when I close the trunk lid, it does not clank against the trunk deck.

Nice Acura Frames

There is a good selection at this site that cover the lower holes and look sharp. http://www.handa-accessories.com/rl.html

Thanks Tampa, that's exactly what I was looking for. The photo was a big help.

Now after reading about the cover, I find that even clear covers are illegal in some states. Of course the NH DMV is now closed so I will check that out tomorrow.

Kmcheney, appreciate the link info also.

I'm looking for a nice Carbon fiber look plate frame, but so far they are either ugly or waaaay too costly.

Robarsan...too bad about the NH Statie and your S4...NH Staties are devious and a worthy opponent when I drive to visit my mom in Vermont...the only time they've caught me was when I was driving a moving van.

"worthy opponent"...... I like that, and agree that they are devious. The one that nailed me was hiding behind a toll booth. I didn't see him until after I paid the toll and was just about to crank up the turbos. Never had a chance.

Tampa thanks! at that price it's worth buying no matter what just to see what it looks like in person!

Robar...Now that I think about it, they did get me one other time using a "Bear in the air", but I beat that one in court. It seems that the one that wrote me didn't really witness the "violation", and the one in the plane that did wasn't in court..DISMISSED!

In Texas if the frame covers any part of the writing or picture on the plate it is illegal. My son got pulled over for his Aggie frame. I decided to just remove mine. No sense giving them an excuse to pull me over.

That's the message I got from the NH DMV, the clear plate cover is legal as long as none of the plate information is obstructed.

The WeatherTech cover I ordered has a fairly thin border so I don't see any issues.

Closing the deck lid should give the same sound as closing the front doors but with the lisence plate and frame rattling on every close it's hard to hear the quality "thunk".

I got one of these at a local parts store. It has two tabs on the inner bottom lip to hold the plate into the frame. Looks great. It does cover the lettering at the bottom of the plate somewhat, but we'll see what happens. I also use stainless allen button head bolts to clean it up and as an antitheft measure.
