Radio interference from rear defroster

I know there are previous discussions on this matter but there were no resolve or solution for this interference. I have excellent radio reception from the Hartford,CT area so its not low frequency. Can anyone help me????????

Heavy has a good point of keeping all of one topic in a single thread. Then, when a comes in without a search, we only have to link one thread and not two or three.

I completely understand your point oo7spy but that thread was from two years ago and if I posted on it I assumed no one would notice since it appeared to be a dead issue from two years ago. In the future I will post to the topic threads thaway it's easier to navigate to precise topics.

Hopefully you can be the first person to have an answer for that thread as I honestly don't think anyone here knows the exact reason. My car doesn't do it and I even have metallized tint.

So I'm guessing from the lack of response, that no one has solved or found a solution for this malfunction.

Just in case anyone cares, I tinted my car (20%) last week and today for no certain reason I decided to turn on the rear defroster and vualla!! No static. All I did was tint the windows, it must act as a barrier between the antenna and the electrical charge groom the defroster.

I care! That's very interesting. One of my hobbies is radio controlled models, and radio interference is a funny thing ( although not near as bad since 2.4G) Must have been a bad ground somewhere or a failing component in tuner itself. I have small experience in car audio and find that factory radios have better tuners than aftermarket radios. It's the only thing that's better. Glad it's solved for you, but still a concern for future users.

It is not a grounding issue. It is a known occurrence in RLs as Toppa mentioned and Heavy linked. My car does not do it, but it too is tinted and with metallized tint at that. It is an interesting hypothesis that the tint blocks the interference but not completely unbelievable either.

Thanks for completing the thread Toppa.

This may be a bigger issue than is apparent because I don't know anyone who listens to it. I think that I have only used AM/FM in my RL for a total of 5 minutes in the last 7 years.
Adverts suck, reception sucks, programming sucks and I don't speak enough Spanish to understand what they are saying.
