Problem with CPO RL!

Not sure what happened.. but drove into my street today. and the car turned off all of a sudden. I checked and there is some power in the car, lights work and dash lights up. but all other electronics not working, radio navi, etc. It's certified so the battery is new, I checked. Could it be the keyless start system? I don't hear anything cranking when I turn the key knob thing. Definitely gonna call the dealer tomorrow and get it towed back there. This is BS, I am so pissed off right now. What is the point of a 150pt inspection, when a car dies 2 days after you buy it? this is HORRIBLE.

Are your battery terminals tight, i.e. don't budge?

CPO does not guarantee a new battery, and it doesn't guarantee the inspector gave a shit. However, it could be so many things that were beyond their control, you shouldn't rush to conclusions. What the CPO does guarantee is that Acura will cover your issues. It's gonna be okay.

EDIT: There isn't much need to create a new thread with a repost. It disrupts the troubleshooting\conversation when you split the topic. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/joined-rl-club-today-892562/

i'm not jumping to conclusions, but when you drop 26K on a nice pre-owned car, and it dies 2 days later, that is RIDICULOUS.

Is it ridiculous? Are you sure a mouse didn't chew through your wiring harness? You haven't even given your dealer a chance to make it right before getting upset. That is jumping to conclusions.

well that's kind of hard when the car is sitting in my driveway disabled.. I am giving them a chance, and hopefully it gets fixed.

There is also no telling how long it was sitting on the lot after the inspection was performed. It is very possible the battery was good when they performed the inspection, but then it could end up being something else really easy where something just worked itself loose. I am with 007, give them a chance before getting too mad. It does suck, but sh1t happens you know.

they told me today it's an issue with the aftermarket remote start system the previous owner had installed. They are checking and they think that is the problem. Has anyone heard of an issue like this before?

Yes, afmkt remote starters can cause all sorts of electrical issues. Many times they are half-assed installed with subpar butt splices into your factory harness. I personally don't think they are worth the convenience. The Acura accessory remote starter available on newer models is a different story. They will probably ask you if they can remove it and if I were you I would let them.

I am surprised that they would CPO a car with an after-market kluge that could disable the car.

I too am surprised that they would CPO a car with aftermarket remote start, regardless of kluge level! Oh well, it is what it is, and hopefully the dealership will take care of you there!

Because CPO is a sales tool not something you can trust.

You can't trust it like gospel, but you can trust that they will fix it. That's what you pay for.

CPO doesn't care if what you have installed. As long as the car passes the 150 pt inspection, it's all good. I have had my remote started for 3 years now and I have never had that problem.

for the remote start, doesn't the key chip have to be located somewhere in the cabin?
If so, I'd look to have it removed

The remote starts that I've put in always use a bypass module for the chipped key signal, so you don't have to leave a key in there. The bypass modules are activated directly by the remote starter, and otherwise won't allow the car to start. You can check by leaving your keys outside the car and trying to start it, if it starts, they've got the bad way and just used a key taped to the steering column, if it doesn't start you're ok.

seems strange - if you can bypass the key chip, seems like easy way to steal the car

getakey - the bypass module doesn't really bypass anything, it's basically just a chip-key emulator that can only be activated by the remote start module.
